Top Speed.

Featured Replies

I was on a private road yesterday (Really, I don't want another court summons) and I managed to break my previous record of 147mph (indicated on the Octy speedo)

I've fitted a Carbonio CAI and a Hyperboost DV since then and I got to the mythical 150MPH (again, indicated on the Octy speedo) I was at 5.5K revs, so there was a bit left in the pot.

Surprisingly, the car felt very stable and although noisy, it was not an unpleasant experience. There were no corners to contend with however, the Octy was smooth, ballanced and there were no explosions. I stayed with it for about 6 seconds (a quarter of a mile) until I ran out of road.

Note: please don't speed on public roads, it's expensive.

I let my girlfriend drive my TDi 130 on a private road a few weeks back and managed to get the needle near the 130mph mark, before she had to slow down, not sure how much was left and neither did she.

I had me car at an indicated 125 before the remap - i would expect a little more now due to the ability to get up speed quicker.

This was actually on a genuine private road too :D

Myself and my friend shared a long straight private road the other night. we both have 05 plate fabia vrs's, both standard. My one got to 135 mph, and he passed me, he said he was showing 140mph. Can't wait to see what happens after i get it remapped. I was on a private road that goes thriugh the midlands not too long ago and saw 150 going down a slight hill.

I've had 132 on the clock of my Furby - 118 on GPS.

Bottled out then.

the octy goes v light @ 160 + in std aero form..

much more stable @170+ with the wrc wing.

tuscans go v v v light @ 190+.

911 was pretty solid @ 179 vmax

where as 348's go very wandery beyond 150... and 180 was downright lunacy. (Obviously a Fabia is quicker than a 348....)

all on private test tracks.

i had 140mph in my furby...

I've had my Octy reading at 155mph, on a private track on the way to Peterborough, had a fair bit more to go, maybe like 10mph?, but then i chickened out! Lol :D

I had 140ish indicated on my Furby flat out. Felt quite stable but don't like to punish the poor car too often...

(Obviously a Fabia is quicker than a 348....)

Only with pikey mods 1, 2 & 3 remember! ;)

Mine can't really hit an indicated 130 at the moment, but hopefully should easily pip that once the engine work is done. I'm not a top speed man anyway - just like the mid range. :)

Indicated 130 on the clocks - then had to test the brakes pretty hard as I had the same problem - no road left & didn't wanna enter the 30 mph public road & roundabout at those speeds now, would have been pretty bad ;)

125mph indicated from a 2.0 16v Cavalier ages ago, that's the fastest i've ever been in a car. Never go over 100 these days.

No license = No Job!

Mine only goes 70 on the motorway :grumpy:

Annoyingly the place I used to work is no longer safe to use for a quick run, as it used to be closed off except for those with a pass, now it's open the whole week so not a chance :(

Remind me on what happened regarding the NIP you received? ;)

Standard Octy is listed as having 146mph top speed.....will probably read 150mph ish on clock due to speedo error.

I think to get higher top speeds you have to get a lot more power and it's not proportional i.e 10bhp = 10mph.

Had the needle on my 4x4 in the mileometer window on a French Motorway & the M3 in the rear view mirror

145 mph on speedo. Approx 131 real speed

145 mph on speedo. Approx 131 real speed

This sounds about right for a Furby. Although, the Furby speedo is notoriously difficult to read post 90mph. What a poxy design! Mine had 140ish on the clock, with no more go at all.

I must say though, that anything that can travel faster than a true 125mph deserves serious respect.

I don't really enjoy travelling at such high speeds, but it had to be done atleast once  I'd normally back off if I noticed the needle going into license losing speeds. I have a clean license and intend to keep it that way! :)

my dads had his superb 130tdi at 145 on the clock, said it was smooth and stable. had my p1 at 167 and it was solid as a rock you could feel the downforce of the rear wing working, only downside was a whistle from my wrc mirrors which was annoying.

Whats a P1?

Whats a P1?

Correction :) Probably one of the ultimate Impreza's

Had my V70R on the restrictor at 155MPH for a long way down the A2 (E34) in Deutschland, small hours of the morning, on the way to the ferry.

Have had an indicated 193MPH on my old Blackbird, the Sigma pushbike computer said 181mph on the highest recorded speed, that was quite surreal because it was for a good few minutes on a darkish Autobahn.

I once had the bejesus scared out of me by an R34 hammering up behind an E320 I had when I had just gone past some trucks flat out, came from nowhere with the l/h indicator on wanting me "Aus" :) That was bloody quick

Like the scooby - my Volvo T5 would eventually pass the 160 mph mark and head off the speedo. It was a bit scary how stable it was. Even at 150 ish it was almost stable enough to take a decent pic - but not quite ;)

But as we all know these T5's will do about 150 in standard form anyway - never mind my extra 33% :)

My V70R was totally standard (Used to sell them tax paid after 6 months) but it was one of the most stable cars at speed I have ever driven. Would have loved to have had it remapped to see what it was capable of unrestricted :)
