Jacking points for trolley jack/axle stands

Just an update, I never did get around to swapping the wheels over, deciding instread to let the fronts wear down and then replace them.

Regarding the sticker on the rear suspensions beam - my car still has it in the same place as the pictures, and it is a 55 reg car - amazing!!!

19999 miles at present and my 11 plate still has said sticker mentioned above. Must have been using the good glue that day.

I was wondering about this too for my Scout. On the scout the plastic moldings that cover the sills also cover the seam on the underside, does the rubber hockey puck work here (I was especially pointing at silver1011  :wonder: here as I know he has a Scout and linked to the hockey puck). I'm thinking the rubber puck will squash the molding a bit, I just don't want it to break the molding as I know from experience they are not a quick and easy job to replace!?

Just thinking out loud here Paddypaws, but if you have the jack, the rubber puck, the moulding, then the metal sill, then at some point the moulding is going to be part of the sandwich supporting the weight of your car - which doesn't sound good really.

Yes, andyoctavia this is what I'm thinking. There is a slot cut in the molding about 1cm by about 5cm but the plastic covering is still going to be part of the sandwich or worse get pushed up and break.

I use the puck on my Scout and have found the puck will fit on the inside of the seam where there are a number of ribs leading from the seam towards the middle of the car which I presume is to strengthen this area for jacking. The puck might overlap the plastic underbody protection slightly but doesn't suffer any ill effects from this.

Thanks for that Anddenton. Do you have a seam slot cut in the puck or sit the whole thing behind the seam?

No slot, I just sit the whole puck behind the seam. As I say a 5cm square area behind the seam seems to be strengthened with ribs so I just jack on that area both back and front, no problems so far, if you look underneath you should see a 5cm square cut out of the plastic underbody shielding with the ribs visible in the gap. I think my puck goes over the plastic underbody cover slightly at the back edge but doesn't suffer any problems from this.

Looking at the OEM widow maker jack for my scout all of the support goes behind the seam and over a much smaller area than with the puck so psi for the puck should be far lower than the oe jack.

Thanks Anddenton I've got a puck now, (thanks for the link silver1011)  I'm sure it'll be fine. As you say it overlaps the plastic under body protection, but can't see it being a problem.

Not trying to put you off using this picture for jacking the car but the sticker on the rear drivers side suspension arm is this.

Sticker location

These photos were taken when the car was less than 2000 miles old and now it is at 2650 miles the sticker is just about falling off so it probably won't be there on your car.

Not trying to put you off using this but it is just a word of warning.

Happened to notice this sticker is now as you lift the boot floor when you need to get to the spare...

Apparently this is why so many cars have alignment issues from new as they strap round the rear suspension arms to secure them during transportation and knock out the alignment.
