Barely legal drivers... BBC3

Horrible to watch.

Absolute disgrace the pair of them, and both should have been banned, not bloody cuddled.

Dread meeting them on the roads.

Absolutely horrified that that girl was actually rewarded, and don't get me going about the lads parents either, as they were just as bad with their flippant attitude.

Are we really sharing the same planet as these *******?

It's a lot worse than that, we're sharing the same roads :(

I forgot about this last night and not going to bother trying to find it.

I watched the show last night. The lass wasn't actually that bad, especially considering she had a car full of screaming morons shouting at her. She's the only one of the 4 seen so far I wouldn't want the license taken from immediately. I wonder how she insured the car though, since at the start of the program it says she wrote off her dad's car.

The bloke was a complete tool though.

The things she did that peed me off were posing for photos while driving,

dancing in the car whilst sat at a green light and then running it on red because she

thought it was broken. And all the screaming was a bit uneccessary. But I have a low

tolerance for loud squawking girls.

And as you said, he was just a tool. After his whole 4 or 5 hours on the road in his entire

life for him to look that ex copper in the eye and say he didn't think more training would do him

any good was just incredulous. The best thing about him was he didn't have a lobotomy haircut.

Apart from that just another teen waster with no talent, ability or drive. He'll be flipping burgers

for the clown in Tottenham Macdonalds before he knows it.

Bit of a disppointing result that he could opt-out of his "punishment". Still, hopefully his Dad gave him a good kick up the backside instead, although without having access to a car to practice in, I can't see his driving getting any better :D

On a completely unrelated note, anyone else think the girl's parents made the oddest couple?!:rofl:

I watched the first one on Monday and the one last night.

To be fair I think it is as much of a comment on the "youth" of today as it is on their driving.

I don't think there was a single one of the four "subjects" so far that i wouldn't like to throttle with my bare hands even before i'd seen their driving!

Also while some of the stuff was quite clearly **** poor i think we all have to be guilty of some at least small does of some of it?

I have certainly used the phone in a "hands free" speaker phone way whilst driving, as well as eaten a sandwich at the wheel, lent on the steering wheel in frustration while travelling, sworn at other road users, sped on motorways, and sped in towns.

I am in no way shape or form condoning their behaviour, attitude or actions but I we're all guilty of some of the issues at some points, I think that as will all shows of this nature they've found the absolute extremes cases.

Fifth Gear crashed (co-incidentally) a Focus

I think being exposed to this kind of thing would do the world of good.

If you're never seen, been in, or been closely associated with an accident there is no way you can understand the potential consequences.

Albeit the Fifth Gear example is another extreme you'd have to be doing well to be doing 120mph and find such a solid obstacle to crash into with out any kind of safety featured slowing you down at least a little.

The noise and violence of actually seeing an acident rams home the point a million times better than seeing pictures or wathcing videos.

That said my yearning for a RWD car diminished somewhat when i say this

(it was in the related viedos on the 5th Gear one I'm not just completely OT :D)

Imvho, it's better to focus on being positive and educating rather than just scare/shock tactics which only have a short term effect and are often wiped out by "it couldn't happen to me" attitudes.

Plenty of videos of FWD and 4WD cars crashing too - driver error vs car error :D

Yeah i get the positive thing but surely a "how bad can it really be? besides... it'll never happen to me" is even worse than an "it'll never happen to me" attitude.

Again i am aware of how easy it is to crash both FWD and RWD i just thoguht that was an apt example and for what it's worth i had exactly the same experience (minus the trees) on track in the wet at Combe in my very FWD Fabia when i lifted to avoid a spinning M3 :D

Anyway back on topic....they are all idiots and don't deserve Corsa nor advanced lessons.

Well it wasn't as **** boiling as the first but still bad. She wasn't too bad apart from the one red light so her old man being a driving instructor did sink in a bit. When her mates were giving her bad advice she ignored them and made her own decisions which was good. He though is a waste of time. No commitment whatsoever in anything and those multiple red lights there was no excuse for. His mates were bellends too. Why go all that way to gamble £20 in a casino? That's a bit sad tbh. His speed was a bit much but I'm not going to pretend to be holier than thou either. I think it was more dangerous that he didn't know he was speeding and couldn't make a proper judgement based on the conditions. Childish mates in a car is always hard work but when you drive you just ignore them and make your own decisions.

Something tells me next weeks one will have quite a few, including me

foaming at the mouth. The 'bloke' in next weeks one seems a right 'character' :dull:

Dear TVL,

Following having read an internet thread and newspaper article about "Barely Legal Drivers", I trust that I will shortly be receiving a full refund of my licence fee. A credit transfer into the account which you originally debited will oblige.

Yours Faithfully,

Ken O'Neill

Being realistic it wouldn't have been much of a program if they'd picked a few pretty sensible younger that then drove round being very reasonable and considerate. They've picked a few eejits they know are going to act like tools because it makes better tv.

Plus if you filmed any of us for a few days then edited it down to 10min I'm sure we could be made to look pretty bad too.

As I said earlier in the thread, I doubt there was a shortage of bellend

applicants who want to be on the telly because that will make them 'celebs'

Any one of them is clearly a towie wannabee or a footballer wannabee.

Superficial 'image is everything' types. Decent, law abiding, ordinary

unspoilt kids would rather just get on with their lives than strive to be

on a show like this. Lets not forget that these people applied to be on this show.

I read the link above which said they were now under investigation by the

Police. Good I say, but make sure whoever was driving the camera car is

included as in both episodes so far they have committed offences as well.

So this week we got someone who can just about drive. The other was again a no-hoper. 'Did they beep at me? What did I do?' when cutting across the front of a bus at a junction. Also the motorway entries made me wince.

Watched it in bed on the laptop last night.

It wasn't the advertised episode, I reckon the one

that should have been on was so full of gaffes and lawbreaking

that in light of all the complaints to the bbc it's been subject to re-editing.

There is a direct question regarding that on the bbc3 website page for the show

which they opted not to answer... Hmm.

So this time we were treated to a fat bird who thinks she's model material.

Maybe a plus size model at best, but she's got the sort of spare tyre you have

to pay extra for these days when you buy a new car. Her hero is, wait for it, Katie Price.

(The preferred sperm dump of footballers and failed pop stars up and down the

country. Funny how none of them can bear to stay with her though isn't it?)

Anyway, I digress. This one thought 37mph on the motorway was okay :o

Came to a complete stop at a slip road joining a motorway, cut across a bus and had

the sort of lack of confidence that made her very dangerous indeed.

The young lad was the best in the series so far I thought, not perfect but deserving

of the car, he stuck to water when he and his brothers and mates went out on the

lash which was good. Reacted well when he was caught in a sticky moment and wasn't

a flash know it all like the others we've seen so far. I thought for a new, young driver

he had his head screwed on pretty well.

Sadly the spoilt little miss was bought a car anyway because she had a little cry,

now where have we seen that before....? So keep 'em peeled for dozy doris

she could be coming to a slip road near you....

Jesus Christ! I just watched this. How the f**k do these people even pass the test? I know most people my age can't drive, but this is beyond ridiculous. This is definitely the far end of the statistic.

I get the feeling that she'll become mum's runabout service though.

IMHO this program has been the "best" so far. The girl made rookie mistakes, and it was said that she hadn't driven since she passed her test in August (no telling when the program was filmed.) IMHO she'll get better with experience and was miles ahead of the other two "ladies" we've seen so far. Given how peer pressure usually works, the boy did very well, especially with the taxi incident (note the taxi had it's rear-fogs on).

Would be interesting to see the out-takes of other drivers. When the girl was hesitant (and the cut across the chevrons), a blue car undertook both her and the camera car on a single-lane approach road.

Next week's one has a coloured girl in it. Seem to recall some of the trailers had her saying she thinks she drives better when she's a bit tipsy. Oh dear.
