Is downsizing to a Fabia monte carlo 1.2tsi 105 from a mk1 Octavia vrs a good idea

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm thinking about placing an order for a Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 tsi 105 to replace my MK 1 Octavia vrs which is costing to much to run averaging 17 mpg round town and 33 mpg on my 120 mile drive to see family every weekend and trips to my local Skoda Dealer (Adamsons of Deal) are starting to become more common.

What i was hoping to find out is, in real word conditions what are the mpg figures? Whats it like drive comfort and performance wise (quite important coming from a car with 180hp and is so much fun to drive) ? Any pros/cons with the fabia monte carlo and the 1.2tsi 105 unit? What options would you suggest i get? whats it like interior space wise? Is it possible to haggle the price down on a Fabia? As sad as it will be saying goodbye to my baby but she's costing too much to run and maintain, £500 spent on parts since January

Any answers would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Shane

Awsome

Adamsons will probably do you a good deal!

Having just done the deal on a new Skoda rapid with the 1.2 tsi 105 (6 speed box) and coming from a 180bhp fabia vrs estate I can tell you the difference in fuel is amazing.

Obviously my test drive revealed good mpg and it will take a while for the new one to give good results but it runs on 95 Ron and is cheaper to insure, tax etc.

Worth a look. Can always get it mapped to 130 ish

Im pretty much doing the same thing, down grading from 212bhp vRS to a Fabia, not monte carlo mind you just a little 1.2.

You cant have best of both worlds in one car, mine is the diesel so my figures are better then yours but i can still make it drink fuel like it going of fashion!

You have to think you'll be getting a small, slower car but think of money your saving. If you miss the power badly then buy something sporty again after a year or two.

You'd surprised how a slower car will not bother you, when you know you have not got the power you dont bother.

Do what?! I feel so out of the loop lately!

Ooops sorry i have not messaged you in a while have i?! Yeah things have changed :)

I don't think pcp is too bad if you see yourself changing a car in 3 years - circumstances can change in that time.

The gmfv is as others said a rough estimate.

I chopped my 06 plate fabia vrs in for my current 11 plate fabia vrs and was offered £6k. It was 5 years old and got almost 50% value after 5 years! Not the 40% after 3 years as Skoda say...
