fabia vrs mpg. what are you guys and gals getting?

Featured Replies

Took my car on its first decent motorway run and i averaged 51.1 with 2 &a half people and a bit of crap in my boot. Mind you the cruise was set for 59 mph. What are you guys an gals getting

40mpg for a 700 mile run from home to South West Germany, according to the MaxiDot (average speed about 70mph for the duration; 10 hrs-ish). Normally high 30's, although a good run of urban work (or 50mph average speed cameras) can easily hit 45mpg without really trying.

35-37

18-64 mpg

45 average over a tankful while on trips.

25-45

About 35 but that's mainly short town journeys :). Longer trips see it nudging 44mpg at 70mph

350 ish to the tankfull of 97 ron

on journeys the display tells me anything between 35 to 45 on my 20 mile commute to work

low 20's on a more spirited run :/

Pretty consistently getting a read-out of c.40mpg on longer journeys. 30mpg on shorter journeys. Best I've had is 45mpg, long journey, mostly downhill.

Currently getting 330 - 350 miles between fill ups. Nearly always fill with Tescos Momentum 99 (occasionally V Power or BP Ultimate).

I'm on my second tank of fuel since ive owned the car and im aiming for 420. Last one was 335 but that was mainly short journeys and hoofing it around scaring the missus. Been using Sainsburys super unleaded atm. Bp garage is well overpriced

Next step then is Tesco Momentum 99 ron, then Mainland Europe and 102 ron. The vRS loves it.

Anything from 270-350 miles depending on roads driven.

25-45mpg is about right.

Generally getting about 460 miles to a tank, but that's nice flat motorway with the cruise at 68mph. On weekends it is an awful lot less!

On my trips to and from work, usually a 14 mile drive around 20% town and 80% A road I'm getting 40mpg consistently. Due to the road being closed recently I now take a nice 25 mile route where I can get up to 45mpg. That is, until the last 2 miles where i get to an area of many short dual carriageways and roundabouts where the temptation to boot it coming out of each roundabout is overwhelming. What was 45mpg for the trip turns into mid 30's within minutes..... stupid loud pedal.

Round the doors I'm usually averaging in the high 30's. My commute to work is only 7 miles but is often in the mid 40's. I never seem to get any better than 37mpg on steady motorway journeys.

Overall according to the trip computer I have averaged 36.5 mpg since taking delivery of the car.

My usual Motorway commutes vary between 38-45mpg ,and the long term between servicing average is 38.8mpg

Averaging about 37mpg over a tank. Mid 40s crusing on a long run, mid 20s when beating it.

36-40 normally, 45 on a longer run.

280-300 miles per tank

My Fuelly link will tell you all my mpg figures

Only 1200 miles covered but round town stop start in the cold was about 29mpg, recent "warmer" weather about 35.

Only decent motorway run worked out about 38mpg, engine only 200 mile son it though, another trip this week to compare.

BTW All figures based on brim to brim rather than maxidot

I get about 42mpg on motorway runs at 70mph, brim to brim. I can just about squeeze 50mpg out of it driving steadily at 50-60mph. More enthusiastic driving on the same roads will see it drop to the lower 40s. Urban driving returns ~30mpg. Compared with previous cars I've owned, these cars seem very sensitive to driving style and conditions.

What does it matter? you've bought a 1.4 twincharged pocket rocket nudging 180 bhp, mpg should be an issue for vrs owners, should have got the diesel monte or greenline fabia if mpg is on your mind.

35-38 on average, a very low 16mpg when it was used for a track day.

It might just be 178 bhp & good fun, or economic as the driver chooses.

its still good to know if you just want to do a 500 mile trip if its going to cost

you £75 in fuel or £100, if you just want to get some place.

If you want to go 500 miles and for it to cost you £150, then you can do that in your Warm Hatch/Estate easily enough.

Its a good car at giving you the choice, where many cars with twice the BHP will cost the £150 in fuel without getting some place any sooner.

What does it matter? Its just a question. Having not long owned the car. I was just wondering if it was about right for the car. If i wanted to have a moan about mpg i would have put. Omg i cant believe the crap mpg on this car. Is everyone else getting crap mpg?

But thank you for your reply

5.4L/100km* on a 40km drive yesterday, slightly downhill, ave 67kph, but not trying to be particularly economic. In fact, there were a couple of full throttle blasts in there.

I have fleetingly seen 4.5L/100km**, but that's driving Miss Daisy steeply downhill and, as hinted above, not what I bought the car for.

Long-term average is 7.4L/100km***, approx 40/60 urban/extra-urban ratio.

* 52 MPG.

** 62 MPG.

*** 38 MPG
