Holtz Tyre Repair Spray Can, do they really work?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Just a question, i'm due to trade my Octy mk2 vrs in for a Fabia vrs, unfortunately my rear tyre has had a puncture! :( I've taken it to Kwikfit to see if they will just repair it. They had a look but it has a screw in the bottom side of the tyre so it needs a new tyre! I don't want to have to fork out £135 for a new tyre if i'm trading it in on Wednesday so was wondering if a quick fix using the Holtz tyre repair 350ml can would be fine just to drive it to the dealer? The can has foam inside which hardens in minutes creating a seal, the can says it's good for punctures up to 6mm or nail punctures.

The other thing is, will one can be enough to fill a 18" low profile tyre?

By the bottom of the tyre do you mean the tread? If so it's probably repairable. I had a Daewoo courtesy car once and had a puncture on a Saturday afternoon, I needed to get the car back by the Tuesday so went to a Kwikfit (I normally avoid them due to a series of bad/expensive experiences).

As we pulled in I said to SWMBO that they would probably try to sell me a tyre. They took the tyre off the wheel, the screw was in the centre of the tread - I used to fit tyres for pocket money as a kid - it was easy and safe to repair. They told me it was scrap. I asked the price of a new tyre it was tiny, 12 or 13 inch -£60 they said lol!!

I took it to my local depot the next day (luckily work owed me some time off) - is it safe to repair - "yes" they said £10. That's why I avoid Kwiksave.

hi the foam is a waste of time and money it does not do sidewall damage all I can suggest you do is locate the puncture if tyre is still inflated deflate half way and remove the screw apply lots of superglue onto the screw and drive it back into the hole wait a few mins re inflate bobs your uncle if you can see screwhead dab of black paint this does work it got me off the services on the m42 and home about 100 mile (on my motorcycle fj1300 )
