Best mpg so far :)

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd post as its the best I had out of my vrs so far. Got 48.2 on the computer. Did Derby to Chester and back on just over 1/4 tank :)

George, I think the reason for this is because we came from the mk1 fabia vRS which could be so fun and frugal. This new one can't do both lol

At least there arent 5 separate MPG threads on the first page of the fabia II section at the moment!! Im off to start a few more. looks like MPG threads are becoming the new Oil usage thread.

Now that all the High Oil users are getting new or rebuilt engines

and the modified ones are being put back to standard and sold on,

we can put that Oil usage posts into the past.

Now its maybe time for more posts on,

correct spark plugs and gap settings, and will any original ones ever last to 40,000 miles.

Dont forget the Whats your build date threads as well. Its full of corkers in here ;-)

I want someone to join the Rapid section and start a thread in the modifying bit :)

Bossfox or vrsy will do ;)

All depends on the new Rapide vRS spec when it comes out. If its a 1.8 or 2.0TSI or even a Cr170TDI ill very likely nip out any buy one.

Why don't you VRS guys go and get a 1.6 Monte Diesel.

Lots of fun to be had & get over 50 mpg.

Drive it like jamesderby and more than likely get 75mpg....

I'm getting at the mo...55mpg. And I don't hang around.

Just please do not make it into another development lab rat ;):D

There's 1.6 diesel "don't hang around" and there is the MK2 vRS "don't hang around" ;). If I wanted a cheap realiable, not a slouch and economic car I'd buy Fiesta Turboboost 1.0 L motor  .

Show me another 4-pot developing 180bhp and 250Nm from 1.4 swept volume at this price bracket with this much space, 5 door and the economy achievable (if required or not needing a pair temporarily ;) )

Is the Fabia vRS putting out 190bhp as standard now? Gets higher and higher by the week

And talking of space, the boot space on the hatch is pretty pitiful.......the estate, however, is a totally different ball game

If they do that I may have to buy the diesel one.

It really does make the fabia feel a bit old, you should try one sy :)

Are they actually going to bring out a rapid vrs? I would be tempted but it would likely cost quite a bit

I dont know. It needs to be priced between the Fabia vRS and Octavia VRS so they cant up the price too much. Plus the Rapide isnt on the newly developed MQB platform is it? If its not then it can be sold cheaper as there is no development cost to recoup for them.

I can't see why they would bother to be honest. The Octavia vrs will suit the need for a bigger for technical vrs than the fabia.

The rapid is on a mixture of polo 6r front and Octavia 1 rear I believe.

Wider rear, narrower front giving good handling, unlike the fabia which is wider fronted and narrower out back.

I read that 1.0 Eco boost ain't as Eco as suggested, I also drove one was rats undies

Who said 190?

Who said 190?

I must be seeing things, unless a quick edit went in somewhere :(

Jabozumo made a simple typo 9 instead of 8. thats all.

178 bhp/180 PS (132 kW) official figures and some standard out of the factory (minimum),

In the Skoda Brochure they print, 'max performance' (PS/rpm) 180/6,200

Some new or rebuilt oil burners replaced by Skoda and with the update put out in excess of 178,

nearer 185 bhp.

The Golf GTi is shown as Max output PS/kW @ rpm 180/132 - 6200

(the A1 Twincharger/TFSi is given the official figure of 185bhp, (or sometimes 185 PS), it changes in different publications,

182 bhp/185 PS /136 kW is probably the correct figure

same engine, different MAP possibly.

i believe it is actually (185PS minimum, not maximum)

How quick/good was the 180 bhp Corolla VVTi?

I see a few around here, but never registered on my interest radar before.

As for the Fabia boot, on the hatch, big enough for a Fat Labrador and some shopping (inedible variety, or he would be fatter).

If you want bigger, what else in that size bracket gives you that?

I read a Top gear article on the new Renault Sport Clio - now with 5 doors, paddle shift and a turbo 1.6...I can't remember what they gave it out of 10, but effectively it was marked down for being

Turbo

5 door

Paddles only...

Ring any bells? It specifically said RS had been asked to "tone down" the Clio RS to make it more appealing to more people and not so hard core!

Good to know

1) I'm not going mad

2) Jabo can actually make a mistake

Brimma - I am having to supress the chuckles, so as not to blow to my workmates that I'm on the site...
