Wasn't aware this was running on the xbox whilst playing a game

What output of the xbox are you using? composite video? s-video? modulated uhf?

You may have the wrong kind of signal type set in the hauppauge settings, i.e. wrong type of PAL maybe

Well it's UHF PAL 60 and I think I set this up in WIN TV as well.

Not sure, as I dont have one and know little about them, I guess it should work, but you never know.....

I don't have either an Xbox or a WinTV card (that's the bad news out of the way :D) but here's a couple of ideas which might help.

First of all, have you connected the aerial from the Xbox unit to the aerial in socket on the Win TV card? If so, have you checked that the WinTV card is using UK PAL and not any other PAL format? Does the Xbox work fine on a standard TV? When you say that you get an affect like macrovision, is that only within the WinTV picture area or does it spread to the whole PC's screen?

If you're not using an aerial, but you're using a video lead, have you checked to ensure that you're using the same type on both systems? IE: s-video to s-video, composite video to composite video etc?

What happens when you take a screen shot?

Finally, have you tried receiving ordinary TV on the WinTV card? Does it work?
