went in for warranty work and came out worse!

Featured Replies

I agree with the thought that the garage caused it,id notice if my windscreen was cracked like that,no way would anybody miss that crack. Why the garage cant be honest & get your screen replaced on their insurance is beyond me. I had to get mine replaced when they scratched my screen when they valeted my car. If it was a genuine mistake then fine, apologise & recitfy the problem,no harm done.

I too have just had an issue see my post about the car going in for some warranty work.

**** happens - I know this from my industry - but the mark of a company is how they handle a situation once reported.

I hope you get the resolution that you are looking for.

What sort of cost is involved in rain sensing wipers?

You can pick up the:

mirror for around £20 - £40 on ebay

Sensor £25 - £50 on ebay

loom is about £25

Switch

If the mirror had have been hit, wouldn't there be an impact mark where it's mounted?

Bad news about the screen. Does the dealer have CCTV? If so might be possible to see the car drive in?

Do search about vrs seats there are a few posts detailing the problem and the fact that there is a revised part out and it is definately a warranty job. As regards the warranty its nothing to do with the supplying dealer, its a Skoda UK warranty and as such any skoda dealer can complete the warranty work and they submit the claim. I would imagine a letter to the local paper wouldn't go a miss cause quite frankly that is diabolical service!

Name the dealer!

EM

Aren't windscreens two pieces of glass laminated with a sheet of plastic between them. If so then if the crack is on the inside I would positively suspect the dealer has whacked it from inside, maybe not the mirror but possibly a tool, ratchet, spanner, extension bar? I would have a really close look and feel to work out which side the crack is on as this would surely shift the bias towards dealer fault.

Whilst on a police driving course I watched a colleague remove the interior mirror to wipe it as part of the daily checks, next thing the windscreen was well and truly knackered, all he did was push it back on- the car was a Passat.

Maybe they removed it when doing the seat work knowing fine well it could get knocked but refitting went wrong......??

The crack seems to originate from behind the mirror where it is glued to the screen

Having made 3 phone calls today to speak to the service manager, I eventually got a phone call from him at 5.15pm this evening at which point my phone lost reception so I immediately returned the call on a landline to be told that he had gone home and left a message that he would call me on Monday! Unhappy with this I asked to speak to a manager and got put through to the sales manager who has assured me that he will contact me first thing in the morning with a resolution. I still have a cracked window screen but hopefully I will be it solved tomorrow.

That's definitely a mirror being hit that caused that, I know coz I did it to 4 cars in the scrapyard when I was seeing if any other make of auto dimming mirror would fit a vw lol

Sending the dealer principle an email explaining an issue with a hyperlink to Briskoda thread usually gets the desired effect.

Prospecting customers are watching.

If you need the principals email post on here or PM me and I'll ferret it out of the interweb.

Sorry I had not really considered any upgrades but if now is the time to do it then I might try and work it out- something good might come of all this hassle!

I would go down to the dealer tomorrow morning, esp on a saturday when its busy. Believe me, they won't call you back, they will fob you off and hope you get bored and pay for it yourself, their service bay should be open. Ask to see the job sheet with the condition of the car on arrival. If it shows nothing, then get a copy of it there and then and POST them a letter giving them 7 days to respond then go Small Claim Court if needed. But don't involve Skoda or anyone else as its got nowt to do with them.

Mine was ment to be in that week as well to get fixed but i'll be out of the country as of wednesday next week for a month so i've had to re book it in for june. No doubt they will go over it with a fine tooth comb before they start any work on it when i drop it off.

I've managed to convince sarah not to give me the yellow citigo as well lol

Booked in for the 8th? As i got a cancelation lol

Well I didn't get a call back, so called him (unfortunately could not get there to deal with it in person)! I then got told that the service manager was not available and he would call me today, I then got this message

;" Mr insert incorrect name..

I have just had a call from my Sales Manager advising me you have called in. I am sorry that I am not in the business today, however I am at a family function today...I will call you first thing on Monday to resolve this matter...look forward to speaking to you then

King Regards"

I am not convinced he will be ready to help by the time I have had another two days to brew on this- I'm livid!

can u get there in the morning? ask to see who done the drop off inspection and see the paperwork. ask to see cctv footage and speak to your insurance or breakdown people for their legal advise.

Its not that bad a car apart from the colour. Just have fun in it like i did. It may be slow and roll around a fair bit when giving it some in the corners but in the 9 days that i had it it completly won me over (I loved the sound of the 3 cylinder engine for some reason especially above 4k rpm). Actually you might get the fabia because i was booked in to have that and not the citigo.

It does look like a fun little car. I'm sure the guys at work will laugh when it's parked in my space.

Ill have it for two days. I hope. my car is booked in for a valet on Saturday 11th. Getting pampered for the summer.

any news?

Sorry to hear about your issues, and hope you get them sorted out soon! :)

Indeed (although there is the argument that dealer could also be liable under consumer protection legislation as the parts were defective).
