Any tyre recommendations

Featured Replies

So last night I checked over the fabia and saw there was a screw in my tyre a few mil from the side wall, then happened to notice that the side wall was split on the other tyre. Brilliant.

My mileage has dropped from 12k a year to under 3. Obviously I don't want to spend a fortune but similarly don't want rubbish.

Any ideas on half decent brands or places to avoid?

If its your standard fabia wheels i just bought 4 contisport 2s from canskill.co.uk. cost 81 quid a tyre. Feels like my car runs on tracks now and great in the rain. I would always go continental. But you can have a browse through the site and see what you fancy. There is som good deals there.

Mick.

Sorry its camskill.co.uk.

Michelin all day long if you want good tyres

Uniroyal Rainsport 2s.

From memory Conti's old designs are Uniroyal's current. They're cheap, of proven quality and should be ideal for most people.

In my size Energy Savers are almost twice the price even at Costco.

Was going to go for the uniroyal rainsport 2 due to high wet grip, but the compromise of high tire wear put me off for the price, iv gone for a set of Falken ZE914, excellent wet grip last longer and got them fitted at £77 per corner

Prices listed on site are tire only not fitted

I've dont notice high tyre wear from RS2s? Mind you I never noticed high wear from T1Rs yet my mate ruined a set on the front of his in about 6,000 miles.

Probably depends on driving styles then, was from research rather then using them myself however lol, didnt want to take too much of a risk when spending money on 4 tires

I know the feeling mate it's a lot of money to waste!

I've just put 2x falken ziex 914 on the front too as they were cheap but had good ratings. iirc £62 from cam skill for 205/40/17. So depends what size you are after

I have done 20,000 on my current set of Uniroyal Rainsport 2, think I will get another 6000 miles out of them.

Based on that and the op states he does 3k a year now then I doubt he'll care about wear as it's be circa 9 years before he had to worry. I'd be surprised if he's still running them by then.

I've put rainsports on the front of mine and I've been very impressed. Wear seems fine, much better than the Hankook Ventus' I had on there before. Even with standing water and the traction control off they can take the car's full torque (shark performance remap) without spinning the wheels :-)

I think ill go for the michelin pilot sport 3 next time, anyone running these?

Meant to be a great all rounder!

Wish the super sport come in 16in!! :(

Tyre recommendations for a vRS.... This is a good place to start: http://www.briskoda....earch_in=forums

Anyway, I'm currently running Rainsport 2s and very happy with them.

Dunlop Sportmaxx rt's seem to be really good performers if you follow new rating system. Not great fuel efficiency due to the width that you'll need but wet grip and noise are hard to beat.

I run them on the Leon, not that impressed, fronts have done exactly 10k and are circa 3mm and that's with the OH driving it most of the time with the kids in. I got them because reviews were good and Costco (normally about the cheapest anyway) had 25% off four so they were cheap. I'll be putting something different on next time regardless of cost.

I'm also on Rainsport 2's and I am very very impressed with them! The grip in both wet and dry is fantastic, the wheels don't even feel like they will spin in the wet under full acceleration.

Very reasonably priced as well.

another vote for the RS2's here.

Rainsport 2s are great for grip and comfort. Sidewalls are very soft by modern standards so not really suitable for 10/10s stuff or trackdays.

Pirelli Pzero and Pzero Nero are good, though I felt mine should have lasted longer. ( gut feeling....)

Conti Sport Contact 2s that came on the car when I bought it are also very good.... Though now either extinct or expensive or both.

Read reasonable things about Barums on this forum...

What About grip? Should be a much better tyre than the rain sport

Grip is fine, not exceptional but quite predictable on the odd time i've been out to play. They're 17" so combined with sports suspension its firm but the wear seems excessive even for a sports tyre. I had hoped for 18k from the fronts, considering the sedate usage it gets most of the time it didn't seem unreasonable but 12k looks more likely.

Back to the drawing board! Lol

What about these,

Got vredstein sportrac 3 on standard alloys, never had any problems with them.
