Hi all :) , Just registered on here and skoda.co.uk , requested a test drive of a fabia vrs and will probably have my first look at one at the weekend , read loads about them and its all good  , need something fun to drive and cheap to run as will be doing 350 miles a week come september , have a Ford Focus 1.6 zetec at the mo and will be chopping that in , wife hates it and i am not a lover of it , TBH cant see what all the fuss is about  the little Fab sounds right up our street , not had a Skoda before but owned quite a few Golf's so we are used to decent build quality , anyone recommend some decent dealers in the yorkshire area ?? got DM keith's not to far away but willing to shop around and look at a few colours (fancy yellow at the mo )

let you know how i get on and what i think when i get a test drive

bye for now

Kevin

Hello :wavey:

Re the dealers, have a look in the reviews section, here

Looks like Bickerton's in Sheffield are very good from the reviews.

got a few questions ;)

Is there a waiting time for a new fab vrs (standard spec ) ?

how come the mk4 Golf never had those performance fiqures with that 130 bhp tdi ? is the Fabia one different ?

what's the tank range with normal driving , ie a bit of motorway, dual carrigeway, b road's, etc etc ?

does the air conditioning just blow cold air or can you regulate temperature ( climate control )

Is there enough room in the back for two kids ?

T.I.A. :):D

get an octavia u can put the kids in the boot

Furby is plenty big enough in the rear two seat two 6 footers with ease and comfort. Unless your kids are extraordinarily large there will not be a problem.

For a standard spec furby Vrs you should only have to wait around 1-2 weeks for delivery and DM Kieths in leeds were top notch (an still are regards after sales). I tend to get 450 out of the tank with mixed driving but that can go upto around 550-580 on a good long motorway run (did eastbourne and back from county durham last tuesday).

Just had my first proper look at the dealers amd i am impressed by the chunky looks and build quality  tried to blag a extented a test drive and he says i have to have my own insurance :thumbdwn: but ringing me back monday , gave me a copy of autocars long term test 0-60 7.2 secs 30-70 mph 7.6 secs now thats is really impressive  how come the Golf 130bhp TDI never did that ?

furby is lighter i think thats why? dont get a yellow one mate get a black one!!

Just had my first ride around the block , had five in it as well ( salesman ,wife ,two daughters ) liked the grunt pulling away, very plush ride , lovely gearbox everything worked VW like (controls etc etc ) doors shut with nice clunk-thud  good driving position and nice supportive seats

OH I forgot you all ready know all this :D:D

Anyway got an extended test drive this Saturday with no salesman so will test some more : ;):D

Hello

Further to your questions...

The Golf is heavier, hence not as swift. I reckon the Skoda figures don't tell the whole story. I reckon 8-8.5 seconds is more realistic and that seems to be widely accepted.

I normally get between 440 miles - 480 miles before the fuel light comes on. 500+miles is realistic if driving sensibly on motorways a lot of the time...

The Furby has "semi-automatic" air conditioning. Kinda half way to climate control. Instead of the normal cold through to hot you get on most cars, the Furby goes from cold - 18 degrees - 26 degrees to hot, and it maintains the temperature you chose. I love it and think its just as useful as the fully digital climate the Octy vRS has.

Yellow eh? They do look nice. Black is definitely high maintenace as it gets mucky so quickly :finger:

But yellow and silver show the diesel pariculates on the boot far to well. Also the vRS hasn't got colour coded handles or rubbing strips, so with black they blend in! (Even though I'm gonna get mine sprayed anyway  )

Hope this helps!

Oh, and welcome to Briskoda
