Thanks mate, trying my best :)

Yeah me too, it's looking like it could rain at any time

It really does, nice to step back and see how shiny it is and how smooth the paintwork is.

Real collection you have there Tom.

Hope you enjoy the GYEON stuff.

Thanks Mark, it's building slowly :)

And on to today's purchases:

Hoping to get the Fab fully clayed and polished today.

They look good. Let me know how you get on with the clay mitt :)

Thanks Charlie :)

So after going to Prept last night I knew I wanted to give the Fab a good proper clean today.

Bought the clay mitt and prep shampoo from Halfords this morning so I could get started.

Started by washing and rinsing, then cracked out the clay mitt!

It was so easy, I've never used a normal clay bar but I can imagine the mitt is far easier. Makes the paint so smooth and silky, keep asking myself why I hadn't done it sooner!

It took a while as I wanted to do it properly, doubt it has ever been clayed judging by the state of some of it.

After claying the whole car I then washed it with my Carbon Collective wash mitt and a shampoo I got from Waxybox:

Then after rinsing and drying I got to work with polishing!

Gave the Fabia two coats of this Poorboys White Diamond polish with an hour in between.

Then after the two coats I sealed the whole car with this:

Then after all that I had pretty much run out of time but I did manage to give the bonnet a quick layer of Autofinesse Desire I also got from Waxybox.

I always find silver a hard colour to really get the most out of, but got a fairly decent reflection today:

Not bad I don't think, only took me near enough 6 hours!

Thanks for looking :)

How did you like the Passion PH shampoo Tom?

I thought it was ok, but nothing special, only major upside was the smell.

  • Author

Wasn't crazy about it if I'm honest Mark. Best thing about it was the smell!

Much preffered the Carbon Collective Lusso shampoo Sparkly. Thanks for the sample.

No trouble Tom, I think Lusso is a far superior product.

My GB is live btw if you fancy testing another super shampoo ;)

Definitely agree with you there.

Have stuck down my name for the Mr Pink :)

That's looking great :) take it you'd recommend the mitt?

  • Author

Yeah would definitely recommend it Charlie. Very easy and simple to use. Makes such a difference too.

Looks lovely mate, looks really clean I think I need you to detail mine lol

  • Author

Thanks Kyle, does make a major difference.

You still thinking of selling up?

It's do or die at the min with it, just ordered some boost pipes to sort my boost leak and I've also ordered some eibach lowering springs so I can get the joms off so I'll see if the love comes back for it then. Need to sort out a window motor too but that will have to wait until after Florida in a few weeks

Ah okay, do know what you mean mate. Once you've got those new bits on and been on holiday you might have missed it and fall for it again. We all get bored of our cars every now and then dude.

Took apart and cleaned my Autobrite snowfoam lance this weekend as last time I used it it was more soapy water than foam.

Got round to using it today and it is now working as normal so I'm happy about that :)

Gave the Fabia a quick clean today.

Snowfoamed with Autofinesse Avalanche, then washed with the Gyeon Bathe+ Sparkly sent me. The shampoo is pretty good, quite slick, no massive scent though, added a shine when the car was dry too.

Dried with my Purple Monster towel and then cleaned the glass with Autofinesse Crystal.

Then just had time to put a layer of Autofinesse Temptation on the roof. It was still beading and sheeting massively from my mega detail a couple of weeks ago.

Autofinesse Desire is lasting very well, just wish it wasn't so expensive so i could buy a bigger pot!

Hi Tom, the beauty of the Bathe+ isn't the scent, which I admit is lacking it's the fact that it leaves behind a quartz protection coating.  That will be part of the shine you are seeing after washing.  Did you try the application neat to the washmitt and work on method?

I loved the stuff and in combo with Wetcoat you can take a fading LSP or a dead LSP on a car and with less effort than a wash and quick detail you can give it a glassy Quartz coatinfg that will last about 3 months.

I'll drop you a PM sometime, probably in the middle of a wax routine on a car with Desire on you wont see the full benefit.

The scent is lacking but that doesn't really bother me as it makes up for it in other ways. I did notice the paint felt extra glossy after drying. I think it's going to be one of those products that I like more and more the more I use it!

No I didn't try that, I'll have to try that next time, do you recommend trying that?

I do want to try Wetcoat out but I didn't see the point what with Desire already being on the car, and I wanted to try Temptation too.

Cheers Mark.

Hahaha the problem with having a big locker full of products is wanting to try them all.

If I were you I would save the GYEON for those difficult winter months when a wax routine is hard to maintain, wash the car with Bathe+, rinse, then add a drop to a wash mitt and wipe onto a panel and leave, work around the car like this, rinse, spray wetcoat lightly over the car, pressure wash off and you will have an insanely hydrophobic SiO2 finish on the car.  I loved this because unlike any other LSP it is a routine you can happily do even in the rain and as it rains all the time in winter anyway so you don't need to bother drying it.  I prep'd my car for Castle Combe like this because the time I had free to detail the car it rained the whole time.

I might try a layer of temptation over Desire though too if I was you, I think Desire sometimes needs it's looks boosting and Temptation is a lovely looking wax.  great plan.

Tell me about it, just want to try everything at once!

Okay that sounds like a good plan Mark. I just wanted to try the Bathe+ yesterday. Strangely looking forward to the winter months so I can try out Wetcoat.

Desire is lasting well, still very glossy, probably helped by the Bathe+. I am planning on putting a full layer of Temptation on the Fab when I get time.

Temptation is a great wax considering the price. Would you recommend using Temptation panel by panel? Autofinesse say you can apply it to the whole car and then buff it all off after. I'm thinking this might make it difficult to remove though. Any thoughts Mark?

Temptation is designed for dummies as well as enthusiasts, I think if applied correct and thin you can whole car it and go make a brew before buffing :D

The BATHE+ will make anything bead like a nutter but the Quartz wont be able to bond properly to the Desire so will fall off quite quickly. Maybe 2 weeks.

  • Author

Haha alright I won't worry about it too much then.

Not too bothered about the Bathe+ beading what with the layers of wax having been applied.

Thanks for the help.

Added another layer of this to the Fabia yesterday.
