Spare Keys for 1999 Felicia

Featured Replies

I've been quoted £85 locally for a key from an auto locksmith which seems a fairly enormous cost considering the probable value of my Felicia.

If you can get a key cut that actually opens the doors with the appropriate chip in in can you match it yourself to the car using VCDS?

If so I think I read somewhere that some Ford keys are compatible, is this true?

Last year I got a spare key for my Fun from Timpson's for £20.

My local inde key cutter and cobbler read the chip of my existing key (from my 1999 Felicia), found what he called the "correct chip" in his box of chips, put it in the correct key blank and cut it for £29.99, about 3 weeks ago. Has worked with no problems at all....

Useful to know

In reference to your vcds question, yes a key can be matched to the immo unit so long as you have the correct login pin number for it. It's fairly difficult to obtain this, your best bet is to get 'clone' key made from the original rather than trying to match new keys to the unit.

i agree with tom on this one as donnor car came from garage it 1st got sold from and not even they could get it to do a lock change as steering lock snaped in barrel and they where going to fix but cost to much... i did get a good deal on it being SLXi

Really? Is that like a mk1 Felly key though?

it's irrelevant of the key type on these, they all use the same generation of immobiliser with a fixed code, the physical shape of they makes no difference to the programming process, for the earlier type it will be an edge key, and a blade type key for the facelift cars.

I had my key and the chip copied at Timpsons in Belfast last week. Price has gone up to £35.

New key worked perfectly first time.

Coincidentally I finally got a spare key from Timpsons too last week for £35.

I'm so pleased. I paid £35 for mine from Timpsons. When I went in a few weeks later for another lifetime watch battery he told me that the keys had now come down to £20 if I wanted another. Thought he was trying to wind me up (forgive the pun) for having to give me another "free" watch battery.

A more local cobbler had quoted about £50 and used the same deciphering machine but was super evasive when I looked over at it intrigued by a process I had never seen before. It was my blinkin' key for heavens sake...

When I managed to snap one of the keys for my current car I had a non-chip copy of the key made (a couple of quid), pulled the chip out of the old key and glued it into a slot I cut in the new key.
