  • Speed markings at 10s, not only 20s. As most UK limits are 30 and 70mph. New style Skoda badges.

  • The driver in mine - it's fecking useless.

I love the lunatic wipers, wipes when it's sunny and does bugger all when it's sheet rain GENIUS.

Agree about speedo markings, need to remember metric equivalents and use the MFD.

You cannot be serious? Are you really incapable of working out that 30 is the tick mark exactly half way between 20 and 40 on the dial??? I'm sorry but...jeez...

Not keen on the way the dip switch operates but soon became accustomed.

Now on that point I agree with you.

Some form of drain away to stop the rain collecting on the rear bumper .

+1 for this

3. The tailgate dumps water on you when opened if not careful.

True, and :swear:

7. An indicator that shows when 4wd is engaged.

Intrigued to know what you'd do with that. Given that the Haldex is a variable torque transfer system, what would you call "engaged"?

independent height control for front and back of the seat

I'd vote for that too.

BTW, you should be able to disable the DRLs via the Maxidot. And I'm a bit dubious about your suggestion that the coming home lights can seriously drain the battery. They only stay on for a few seconds (60 seconds max if you leave a door open, according to the manual.) If that's enough to drain your battery I'd suggest it's knackered. I know there's a warning about it in the manual but I'm struggling to imagine how you could manage to get the lights to stay on for a period long enough to make a signifincant drain on the battery without opening and shutting doors like a Keystone Kop. And, again, you can adjust them via the Maxidot.

Ive only had my Yeti a week, but I think they should redesign the centre armrest/box...its in the way of the handbrake.

I thought the same when I first got mine, but I don't notice it now. I think it's just one of those things that you get used to without realising it.

For me:

Bigger boot

181 TDi with stop start

Towball noseweight raised for 80Kg to 100Kg like the Tiguan.

Some more interesting paint options offered like Mini do on the Countryman

Also independent height control for front and back of the seat- as found on other cars.

The Yeti has this......

for those vehicles with an electric chair.

Absolutely nothing.

I would just like to know when anything was happening.

Now a nice graphic on the columbus display showing where the torque was going, that would be fun to watch (for the passenger)

I'm referring to the non electric chair. At least I would expect as the seat rises, it wouldn't tilt forward.

My previous MY2002 car was fitted with such. Even lumbar support. Maybe as a commercial vehicle, the seat was designed for long journeys. Also, as the cabin space was bigger- it could afford a slightly bigger seat.

IMO.

All the non electric chair Skodas I have driven do this which is why I have only ever had Skodas with electric chairs!!!!

I wonder if VW's are the same?

And another thing, the sun visors should be a bit larger.

Reply to ejstubbs: yes I can work out the speeds between those shown, but it is not intuitive and certainly not easy to distinguish at a glance.

A steering wheel that pulls out just a tad more!

Ah ok, I just always assume anyone must have the Columbus, like me ;) hehe

The 170 motor with a DSG box.

And leather upholstery that feels like real leather!

With the greatest respect, I'm sure we can all do that and already do, however the Mk2 Octavia speedo looks so much better and goes up in gradations of 10mph which makes it even easier to read the correct speed off of it.

All the people who said they would prefer this are merely stating personal preference, so probably didn't really need someone rubbishing their preference and being patronised for having a personal preference.

Noop, I have to use either my pigeon sense or a stick on job for satnav., But my MY2012 bolero is very quick reading 32G SD cards mind. even with more than 2.5 thousand tracks...which is nice.

Only a small point but I'd like the raised boot floor and the backs of the rear seats to be covered in a plastic / rubber finish similar to that of the side walls in the boot. It would make life a lot easier when hoovering out the boot after a day out with our corgis - they would win prizes for moulting.

I'd like to have yoke instead steering wheel.

Then offnote you have two choices:

1. Take it out of your Cessna or

2. Book a flight to Indo China and buy a redundant one off a peasant!

Can I vote to keep the speedo as is please.

Otherwise obvious one from me; option to have wheels/tyres more suited to the byway not super highway

Oh and a more cleaner/efficient petrol 4x4

TP

I'm sorry if it wasn't clear from my post, but what I was rubbishing was the suggestion that:

need to remember metric equivalents and use the MFD

was the only way to overcome this failure of the car to conform to that particular personal preference. It plainly isn't, and frankly it's ridiculous to suggest that it is. Hence my incredulity.

There might be in the Elegance but certainly not on my SE.

Fred

Ooops, just seen other post that explains it is the radio type and not the model that determines this.

Agree with much said - only minor niggles really

For me:

1. A bit more sound proofing

2. Either a gear box with a slicker first gear and a 7th gear

3. Or an 7 or 8 speed auto on the 1.8TSi

4. Brighter interior lights.

5. Be a bit more efficient

6. Air suspension (with lift).

7. A better placed hand break.

8. The cruise control set-up on my old car (i.e. on the steering wheel).

9. More solid feeling controls - particularly the secondary controls - indicators cruise control etc.

10 Separate controls for the fog lights.

And about time too, though it should be standard on the L&K.

The cost to change would be in the region of 10k for me by the time I have had mine for 3 years, so I am struggling to see the advantage of changing at the moment.

I'm with you here Mike. So I suspect my Yeti will be with me until Yeti II and I'm not changing to a FL just for the sake of it. It was the electric seat that put me off the L&K until now as well.

But I want a 1,8 or 2,0 petrol DSG. Or a 170 DSG and a few other things to make me change. My car is fully loaded already so there are no new options I can even add to make me want to change. I don't drive to work so don't need the heated windscreen nor do I need a Columbus tbh. And in all the time I had mine I would have needed the folding passenger seat exactly once and I managed to fit the 2310mm IKEA bits just fine as it was, by just dropping the passenger seatback as far as possible.

I want radar cruise control since normal cruise control in the UK is useless. That and the above gearbox / engine combinations and I might change. But to change just to get a new colour with the same spec? Nah, I have better things to spend my money on. :giggle:

Does the Yeti not have a button to unlock all doors inside the cabin? My 06 plate Octavia did and my Audi does; I'm surprised that the Yeti seems not to have one.

Yes it does have one. But by then you've already climbed out of the car. As per Rockhopper's reply above you just need to tick the correct setting in the Maxidot for ALL the doors to unlock when you open one from inside.

ALL the options on the new A6 Allroad, especially:

- hands free remote boot opening

- adaptive cruise

- night vision

- LED main beam

- biturbo engine

- £6K audio system

- HUD

I spend my time on narrow B-roads and limited parking spaces, so I don't want a wider, 5m long estate, but I do want the toys!

  • 5 months later...

I've had my new Yeti 1.2T Elegance for just over a month.

Items I'd want improved while staying within the brief of the Yeti (i.e. can't request a longer car!)

The folding seat mechanism looks like a bit of a kludge.

1. the rear seats in folded position would be better if they could lock in place rather than use elasticated string to hook them to the back of the front seats. They endless bang against the driver & front seat passenger.

2. the middle seat, when folded, hits the centre console unless its headrest is removed - and even with headrest removed it pushes hard against the console. I think this mechanism came from the Skoda Roomster and it's clear the team didn't quite measure twice and cut once when defining the Skoda measures.

elsewhere...

3. boot lights: I'd like an on/off switch so when parked I can keep the hatch open and not drain the battery (they turn off after 30 minutes and that's way too long)

4. boot lights. they are soooo dim.

5. an option for a waterproof floor rather than "carpet". That'd make it easier to drive in wellies / clean out the Yeti.

6. at low speeds I don't find the Yeti very comfortable - it feels like it transmits every small road dent thru to the cabin

7. 12v power, cigarette lighters. I'd ditch all that and put a 3-point socket in the back, a micro-USB socket next to driver and one in the small doored space on top of the dashboard.

As this is a fan site I must add... very please with Yeti. Great handling, lovely 6-speed gear box (the plastic+cardboard box in the Qashqai+2 really put me off that car), great space for such a tiny car, enjoying the raised height over my Octavia 4x4 estate.

A finally tip: if you find the Bolero system reads your SD really slowly (say 30-40 seconds to display an album list) then get to your local dealer for a firmware update. Mine went from 40 seconds down to 1-2 seconds. Turned in into an entirely different experience.

I have seen similar threads on other forums and wonder if the makers ever read them. Why don't. Makers send a feedback form to the owners a couple of months after they have picked up their car asking what they like or dislike and what they would change. If they get a common thread then they could react to it. Unfortunately what they fit to a car is very often dictated by marketing strategy, for example the seat adjustment, it would cost pennies to add manual adjustment for the seat squab angle, but then why buy electric seats. Another example is the off road button, does it ally cost £100 for a button, what it does is done by software so costs nothing.
