window chrome trim

Featured Replies

My dealer told me this:

"This is from Skoda's latest update on the Octavia regarding the chrome window trim:

'This can be included on cars built before week 23. It will not be included on cars built from week 23. Please notify any customers whose orders are affected

This option will be removed in the next printed brochure and removed from the ordering systems immediately' "

Looks like mine will be a very rare spec then! Hope the chrome does not get nicked if it'll be like church roof lead!

  • The morale of that is then as you've said, wait for all the "nice" stuff to come along on after launch!!

Oh dear. Does that mean you will have to pay for a black optic package like with Audi? The version I want isn't out yet, but it will lose its appeal to me at least if chrome is the default. Black l

  • Great news for you!!Mine has been cleared by the port, not entirely sure what this means!! Think it means it can now be shipped, dealer said it shouldn't be too long!! No idea where it is to be honest

Well not that rare - they did also say that mine will come with the Chrome too - and I have Build Week 23, so it makes no sense...

I think only time will tell mate, who knows what they are playing at!

Hello guys! :) Writting to you from Zagreb, Croatia, with some new info about the chrome package. Just talked to the CEO of one of our local dealers, and she told me that unfortunatly chrome is now

unavailable for Croatia, but is standard part of Elegance package in Slovenia and Bosnia , for instance :(

Its some kind of package agreement between the producer and main distributor in the country. I am amazed that on the market such as british there would be no chrome in Elegance package.

But than again, i would think that if our neighbours had it (Slovenia and Bosnia), we would have it to!?

I ordered my car in april, and it is schedueled for production week 23, and my dealer told me that it will come without the chrome 100%. Also told me that if i am to order and fit it post production

i have to chanege also the glass on both passanger doors, and that it would cost abot 500 pounds.

Not to mention I dont even want some mechanic taking apart a brand new car to fit the chrome.

Really let down by this Skoda policy:(

It's the same situation, Germany v Austria.

Going by German forum they also aren't happy that in Austria Elegance has chrome as standard.

For Germany chrome is now not available - they had a 'Light and Design' option pack which included it - this is now withdrawn.

Wonder how they decide which countries are worthy of chrome trims?!

Obviously England, Germany and Croatia suck, and Austria, Bosnia and slovenia is the nuts:)

I dont know why Czech dislike us, still i am hopeful, id write an e-mail to somebody, but dont know to whome....

I hope you all get your chrome, just been to the dealer to sign my finance agreement and managed to get a pic of my car, with chrome, still awaiting prep ready for delivery on Sat. I am sure the chrome will spark debate, some will like, some will not, but then I personally like Marmite! :giggle:

Its daft. They're all made in the same factory with the same parts bins in. Why not just open the catalogue and let you spec any option? Do away with trim levels and just have a blank sheet that you build your own. That would be pretty cool. Absolute nightmare when selling, but pretty fun.

Ok so now I'm confused.... (Who shouted 'doesn't take much' from the back?!) ;)

So the hatch only gets the lower bit of chrome not the full window area surround like the estate does?!

Liking those wheels :)

Correct, the brochure pics show this too. Makes the hatch look like a Ford, but with added class!

that's what I was thinking of actually - I'm sure the current Fords have just the lower 'swoosh' line.

Here in Norway we get the full window chrome on Ambition and Elegance as standard. My dealer says it something each country decides if standard or not.

Correct again! Our car park at work is full of Fiesta's and Focus's, due to the rubbish car policy limiting choice of manufacturer!, so at least I'll blend in with my chrome swoosh!!

Now I'm confused too.

I have an estate on order, being built next week. Have been told that it will have chrome as standard (whether that's full or half window I don't know.) That in turn has prompted me to put my hand in my pocket and order chrome roof bars. I specifically said that though I'd like chrome, I didn't want a mix of black and chrome trim. I'm a private buyer whose ordered a simply spec'd 1.2 (much as I'd love a 4x4 with all the toys), if it turns up with black window surrounds - and a B-pillar gap - and chrome roof bars -I'll be royally p***ed off.

+1 - I only went for the roof rails to match the chrome window trim. Keeping fingers crossed as my dealer tells me that I WILL get the windows chrome. Though until I saw the picture above at post #33, I would never have dreamt that they might only do the bottom half!!! Hopefully that is a hatch vs. estate thing... (Estate on order).

l am pretty sure the estate gets full chrome surrounds, not just a swoosh! All the brochure pics of the hatch only show the swoosh, but all the pics I have seen of the estate show full surrounds, I guess it is to break up the additional expanse of glass, and similarly, I guess this is why sunset is only an option on the estate too?

OK, thanks. I must confess that I had only thought about chorme window trim in the context of the Estate picture at the back of the original Hatch brochure. I have seen references to sunset, but I have no idea what it is

More heavily tinted glass from the b pillar back. :)

Darker window tint from b pillar backwards, not as dark as a Ford though, they go for the full drug dealer effect! The sunset on my Superb is very subtle but quite effective at reducing glare with the kids on board, wish it had been an option on the hatch!
