3 points on my licence already!

Temporary limits, such as the ones that flash up in orange on side of dual carrigeways are advisable I believe? I always ignore them, but then thats how I was taught when driving.

You can't be given points just for exceeding them but ignoring them is good evidence for driving without due care or dangerous driving.

If it's a semi-permanent speed limit change with the usual red and white speed signs then the limits are very much enforcable (assuming that the required paperwork has been done , and if there are cameras it probably will have been)

Its stupid though, everyone that went past me was going faster than I was, and then just slowed down for the camera, and off they went again. Okay, fair enough I didnt slow down for the camera, but they are pointless and do fk all (only to catch the newbs out)

If this is true, what should I do? take the points and re-take my test  :thumbdwn: or let my mum take it the points and the ban??

WTF!!???

You committed an offence. Why the hell should you then commit another and drop your Mum in it? You were driving, you were speeding, you should take the blame.

And this wasn't a big enough clue?

Well hopefully you will now think a little bit more carefully about the speeds you do.

If you do , then the camera has done some good.

If you don't then you deserve to be banned.

I speed. I think carefully about when I do this and only do so when

A) I believe it's safe to do so.

and then

B) I believe there is little or no chance of being caught.

If I do get caught then I'll have nobody to blame but myself and will take the penalty , but I don't go so fast that I'd be in danger of being banned for a single offence.

Well, obviously after being flashed by the camera, I didn't exceed the speed limit frm the point of the camera and the return journey. My mum actually volunteered to take it, i think, but i didn't want to drive in the first place so it is partly her fault.

I was in the leftlane at the time and other people were going much much faster 80-90. Okay, i didnt have to follow what they did, but I mean the retards that tail-gate you because your going to slow and then cut you up and make you swerve are retards.

When I was returning from Wales previously, I was sticking to the limits and on the journey, 3 people tail-gated me and cut me up because of this and I consider this much more dangerous than going faster and not being cut up.

And this wasn't a big enough clue?

I didn't actually see them slow down. They were too far ahead and I was concentrating ahead, but not miles away.

Yep.

No cars around except miles away.

So did I funilly enough.

I didn't actually realise theres a possibility of being banned for doing 70 in a 40. Obviously I knew it was not good, but with tail-gaters on your ass and cutting you up, you cant really stay at that speed unless you want to be pushed off the road

but i didn't want to drive in the first place so it is partly her fault.

Did your mum tell you to speed? And even if she did, you didn't have to do it.

It's a bummer, but face it, you broke the speed limit intentionally and unfortunately got caught. Learn from it and take your punishment, whatever they decide to do.

I will guarantee that from now on you'll be slower and speed less. See this as a good thing.

Oh good

Still  at this one :D

Yes people do tailgate, but that is their problem not yours, they hit you it is their insurance that pays, live with it. :D

I do that to people - when they sit in the middle lane with their finger up their ar5e and their brain in neutral. :D

Look, you've said you did it. As I said in my last post, take it like a man.

Did your mum tell you to speed? And even if she did, you didn't have to do it.

No, but the people following behind me and flashing me were intemmidating

Yep, also, considering buying a camera-detector, thats if I don't get enough points to be banned.

On another note, if I do get 6 points and a ban, would it be wise to tell them about being tail-gated and cut up? or is that not good?

I'm sorry but that's complete and utter nonsense.

Unless she was reaching over and pushing your foot on the accellerator then it's entirely your fault and nobody elses.

Again , rubbish. If you are driving at or near the limit then people may sit on your bumper for a while or will overtake you , but as long as you are leaving a decent gap from the vehicle in front and pay attention then there is almost no chance at all of an accident , and if there was it would be relatively minor.

At 70 , 80 or 90 mph an accident would be vastly less survivable.

You have been driving for only a few months and you clearly do not have enough experience to decide what is dangerous or not. If you think you were driving safely then go to court , tell the magistrates that and see what happens

You're making excuses, I'm afraid. You were caught. You could argue that it's unlucky, but really you've just got to hope the camera had no film in it, and if it did, that you were doing less than 70 because as has been said, 30 mph over the limit is a definite court appearance and a likely ban. Dumping this on your Mum sucks! :thumbdwn:

Having said that, I do sympathise, and I hope you don't get done, but do learn from it and be more careful in future.

id actually prefer to go faster than them fish tailing your car off the road and into a ditch.

They wouldn't care one iota.

The way I see it is if you're doing the limit and they want to go faster then they'll overtake. and probably get flashed by the cameras themselves. It's not an excuse to speed. There'll always be someone with a faster car behind you. (unless you're really reallyrich)

with tail-gaters on your ass and cutting you up, you cant really stay at that speed unless you want to be pushed off the road

Ok , so which cars would this be because you said

No cars around except miles away.

"The invisible cars made me do it"

id actually prefer to go faster than them fish tailing your car off the road and into a ditch.

What planet are you on?

Okay, well, ill keep you guys posted to see if I do get done in. but anyway, thanks for the info. I now need to go and revise for my exam tommorow

Ok, ignore the idiots behind you. What is going to get you from A-B quicker, a car driving at 40mph or a train? Which of those gives you you're freedom to go where and when you want?

Drive at your pace, as long as its keeps up with the traffic in front and isn't over the limit and who can complain? No-one should. If they overtake you dangerously, fine, let them smash into the car coming the other way, they'll be the idiots later in hospital getting their asses sued. They will pick up the points for speeding, they will get pulled over for speeding and dangerous driving, don't let you be a victim of a stupid accident due to your speed and don't give the police an easy target.

id actually prefer to go faster than them fish tailing your car off the road and into a ditch.

How often do people drive so close that they're touching your car? Please tell me because, to be honest, I'd rather take a different road than go faster if these people are around!

well, they dont just tail-gate, they cut you up aswell. and both combined actually wants to make you go faster, instead of contiunally being cut up

Is this guy trying to wind everybody up? I mean by the slating he's had (deservingly so by the way) from everybody he's remaining quite calm about things and actually posting back! Anyway i think's it's a bit off asking his mum to take the rap for what is a blatant speeding offence! :(

No I am not trying to wind you up, and Yes I am calm, ive got no reason to slate you back, so I have no intention to. Ive came here to get info and opinions.. You have now given them and have I taken notice and respected every single one dispite you slating me. I see this place as a discussion forum, not a place to take the **** out of someone until they refuse to reply anymore. On this note, im taking the blame for the offence, if it arrives. Im actually dissapointed that some of you were quite aggressive in your posts towards me.

I feel that all the posts I have posted are my true thoughts and feelings of the actual situation.. As one of you have said, you do speed but just make sure its safe and you dont get caught and I believe this statement is true for most drivers aswell.

Anyway i think's it's a bit off asking his mum to take the rap for what is a blatant speeding offence! :(

I didn't ask, she volunteered.

I think you should buy a gun :D

These people who make you swerve by their mere presence, flashing you, tailgating you and encouraging you to speed are all obviously the agents of Satan and deserve to be wiped from the face of the planet!

Get a gun my boy, get a big gun. It's the only language these inconsiderate ba5tards understand! Trust me, give 'em both barrels in a broadside and the wanchors will never do it again! :grumpy:

Oh and when you get to court, just tell them you wre doing it for Jesus, 'cos Jesus hates tailgaters! :D

HTH

Oh, I know someone who's trying to get rid of a gun if that's any help?

Or shoot em and get your Mum to take the blame :)
