3 points on my licence already!

Featured Replies

...keeping up with traffic or the odd bit of 'enthusiastic' driving is one thing we all do but 30 over through ROADWORKS ?

you didn't see any road workers ?......you didn't see a camera either !!

Learn from this and take the 3 points if your lucky enough to get them and spare a thought for the familys of those roadworkers killed every year because some t**lbox can't be bothered to stick to the limit that is put there for a reason..

My brother was 'cleaned' a few years ago by some idiot but he was lucky enough to get away with a broken leg..

Don't hide behind your mother unless you don't mind the thought of her being stripped search on her way into Holloway after being sent down for perjury..

i got 3 points and 60 fine for 70 in a 40 roadworks on a dc at night when no one was there

also 3 points and 60 for 99 on the m1 well thats what he did me for not what i was doing thank god

There's a huge difference between getting stopped by TrafPol and getting caught on camera.

Many police officers are capable of considering the conditions as well as your speed and showing some kind of discretion (often issuing FPNs for quite high speeds) that camera partnerships dont

yup i know thats why im very lucky :D

I was doing 76 in a 50 i.e. 26 over the limit, and was offered either a court appearance (possible 6 points plus a fine or a short ban), or a Police "Speed Awareness Course" cost

This just smacks of immaturity and a lack of experience to me.

screwed up both my exams :/ oh well, I had this on my mind and was wondering what would happen.

best thing to do is just forget about it, there is nothing you can do until you get a letter in the post.

"Been there done that", so I know what's going through your mind what ever happens learn from it and move on as with everything in life

Really...put it out of your mind. You can always get your driving licence back again (if you have to - which is a worst case).

Resitting these exams will set you back much further.

Unless they're in General Studies or something... :D

Rob.

I have a Vectra 3.2 Gsi V6. Do you reckon that I'd get away with doing 159mph in it?

only one way to find out isn't there  :P

I don't know. Are you a police officer on duty?

eh thats not an sp30 :s unless it was a residentail road :S

on a motorway its an sp50

but he would get an sp60 id think as its through roadworks so a tempory speed restiction thats what i got for my one in roadworks

It's an SP30 that's on my licence ..... and no it wasn't a residential road.

My point is that it's SO far over the limit that it's very unlikely that a fixed penalty will be offered.

I got stopped doing 82mph in a 20mph zone.

It was about 11.20pm after I'd finished work and near xmas too. 2 police cars stopped me, one in front and one behind. I thought thats my licence gone but they just checked I wasn't drunk or anything dodgy. They asked me to keep my speed down and drive safe.

To that day I've driven (hopefully) like a saint.

I've only just spotted this thread.

Firstly, if richielee14 was doing "70" as he says then he was probably ACTUALLY doing only about 66mph - so a ban seems very unlikely.

Secondly, until the notification arrives it's all hypothetical - and there's nothing richielee14 can do about it so why worry.

Thirdly I got two SP30s last year and neither was on a "residential" street - one was on a 30mph inner ring road where I saw the camera and slowed to 40mph, only to realise the limit was 30mph... - one was on a "national speed limit" (i.e. 60mph) A road.

The second one, I was in a queue of traffic driving my father's car and only spotted the camera van as I drove past, glanced at the speedo which said 72mph and though "Oh Dear" but didn't say anything to my father. He rang up later when the notification arrived to say he'd thought of just filling in the form saying he was driving and wasn't going to tell me about it. But he'd had second thoughts... Oh well... :(

Hence I downgraded and bought a Skoda - to get the 75% loading (including a fault claim) to a more reasonable level...

I now drive through all road works at the set speed - everywhere but the M25, others go through, including lorries, at vastly higher speeds. But if you consider how much time they're saving, does arriving someone a mere 5 minutes earlier make any significant difference to your life?

Thats my view on dagerous/fast driving... If your going to be late, then so be it, but driving like a loon to get there on time could cost you your life...

Sorry sightly off topic :o

driving like a loon to get there on time could cost you your life...

.. usually someone elses life

I can't believe I fell for the e-database link. Hook line and sinker.

I even started to get moderatly annoyed when I knew I had been nowhere near Cambridge. :P

  • 2 weeks later...

What came of this?

I think we would all like to know

Rubber gloved and banged up with the nonces.......? :)

Speed cameras are supposed to be about road safety, aren't they?

How many people did the originator of this thread kill or main while over the limit?

Rob.
