yeah, just had to do mine, but 200 for the year.

Would be far far easier to add more tax to fuel, given I hardly do any miles :)

Must get myself to a dealer and trade, I know it' a false economy, amount you loose on trading, would take a few years to recoup through road fun alone.

Bet that's not your Octy, but the Fabia.

And then i'll make you feel worse - 1972 Midget - £0

Ouch! :(

tell me! that does smart a little when it comes round

My vespa costs more to tax than the bravo.

Mine was £140 this time round

Nice to have! I got a renewal of £72 for six months on my Polo. Went online and it was a cheery £77 because in the three weeks between reminder and end of month prices had been revised :@

I can't believe that if you drive the right car you can cover 50,000 mile p/a and not pay a penny in 'road' tax. Explains why the bloomin things are crumbling under our wheels.

wow! I feel much better.

The tax on the R8 at work being its first is £1065.

You can't get 6 months..... Pfffft. Anyway mine costs more than that a month!

The wife's C1 is free each year - it's not run it yet and the fuel economy is getting better on each fill - she's getting over 47mpg for urban use. It's almost cheaper to run than my 125cc scooter that I use to commute to work:

Car - cheaper to insure, cheaper to tax

Bike - slightly better on fuel (but not by much)

Here's unfair for you.

My van has the 1.5 dci engine in it which if fitted to a 2003 Clio for example is

around £30 odd quid a year to tax.

Same engine in is my 2003 kangoo yet somehow it being fitted in a different

body makes the tax rate suddenly leap to £220.

So much for emissions based charging.

It's because it's classed as a commercial vehicle (for the purpose of taxation class). It can work the other way as well - there are lots of people out there with Land Rover Defenders that are paying over £400 a year, but those that have managed to get them re-classified as commercial vehicles are "only" paying £220.

Are vans actually subject to the emissions tests though?

I thought they were just taxed based on the size of them and whether they are Euro 3, 4 or 5

Oh,I know the reason behind it but it's still unfair.

I'm pretty sure the same engine is available in a Kangoo with seats and windows

and is the same tax rate as the clio too.

At least the mpg is good.

I just did one of my cars at £490, which does grate a bit when I have to dodge potholes.

You win your bet :)
