What do you have to modify/shave/bend or what ever to make a single din head unit fit in the old units place? As I'm having trouble it seems to be catching and won't fit flush :/

Although I was fitting a double din, I had the same issue, not sitting flush.

I decided it was due to all the additional wires, so cut away some non-essential plastics (see the arrows in the below picture) as per the below, which worked. May or may not help!?

My pioneer single din fitted in fine. Make sure the plugs on the headunit are not jammed behind it when fitting.

I had to do the same as jars to get mine in.

I also did the same but removed the big middle bit also, I had wires for all sorts though, steering wheel controls, sub and amp in the boot, extra aerials for sat nav etc

I don't have many wires for mine and the culprits look like the ones in the picture! It just gets so far in and stops and I've had a quick ganders and it looks like its possibly them also a Couple of tiny little bits on the top of the storage tray thanks guys! Crack on with that this aft!

Take out the cubby hole, use hand to push the loom out to one side or above the head unit.

Re-insert the cubby hole and smack home with the butt of your fist.

Thats how I done both Alpines I've had in my car.
