Although I was fitting a double din, I had the same issue, not sitting flush.

I decided it was due to all the additional wires, so cut away some non-essential plastics (see the arrows in the below picture) as per the below, which worked. May or may not help!?

I don't have many wires for mine and the culprits look like the ones in the picture! It just gets so far in and stops and I've had a quick ganders and it looks like its possibly them also a Couple of tiny little bits on the top of the storage tray :) thanks guys! Crack on with that this aft!

Take out the cubby hole, use hand to push the loom out to one side or above the head unit.

Re-insert the cubby hole and smack home with the butt of your fist.

Thats how I done both Alpines I've had in my car. :)
