Heated Front Windscreen

Featured Replies

For information re Winter Pack - unless anyone knows anything different:

This applies to the Petrol Engines only (I think):

The April brochure stated, in a footnote on p 24, that the Winter Pack was not available with the TSI engines (no reason given). But the new on-line configurator currently shows Heated Front Windscreen & Nozzles as selectable options for the car I am considering (1.4 TSI Elegance Estate). I e-mailed Skoda UK to check, and received an e-m reply to say that the Winter Pack was indeed available. Today I telephoned Skoda UK to be told that, as regards Options, the Configurator is correct (cf the old brochure), but, then, on further questionning about the heated screen, I was told that this really isn't available for Petrol engined cars and that the configurator is wrong.

They also have no idea when the new brochure will appear.

Is this confusion typical of Skoda UK? Is the Winter Pack to be available for new builds (MY2014, say) or not? Should I buy a Passat instead? . . .

Maybe they think the warm up time of the new series engines is that quick you shouldn't need a quick clear screen on the petrols? I did the same exercise and could spec what is effectively the "Winter Pack" (screen, seats and washers, I think).

That is what I did too, but Skoda now tell me that that is not possible for a TSI engine. It's a bit of a disappointment - I use the heated screen option on our Scorpio frequently enough in the winter to make it a desirable feature.

I've just had another telephone conversation with Skoda UK, this time with Phil. He is going to ring back. He told me that the 'Winter Pack' was listed as a single package and available for TSIs in the March brochure, then delisted for TSIs in the April brochure. And it doesn't appear as such on-line. On-line, however, the components of the Winter Pack appear as available separately. He is checking to see if those components (heated screen/seats/nozzles) are viable options separately for petrol engines.

If you go on the configurator and try to select the heated windscreen on its own you immediately then get a flag that says you must specify heated washer nozzles or delete the heated windscreen. If you say "yes" to the heated nozzles you then immediately get another flag saying you have to specify the heated seats or delete the heated windscreen. In other words you must specify winter pack to get the heated screen.

Yes - the Configurator does allow you to select all the components of the 'Winter Pack', but Skoda UK rang back to say that that is an error, and, for a TSI engine, it isn't possible. However, I ordered the car last Friday, and, at the dealer, on his non-public configurator, those 3 selections were accepted without any problem. It is difficult sometimes to get definitive, authoritive answers - cf the Chrome Surrounds issue . . .

I don't get the logic that the petrol engine will heat up quicker so you don't need the heated windscreeen. Using blowers it would still take 5+ minutes if not closer to 10 for it to clear a frozen windscreen to the point you could turn your wipers on to clear it. No-where near the 1-2 minutes it would take with a heated screen

I could not get this option on my future 1.4 TSI Octavia Elegance.

My Dealer tells me that he has ordered the car with the Winter Pack components - i.e. it passed through the eye of their ordering configurator. Whether they will appear in reality is another matter . . .

My order re Heated Windscreen & Nozzles failed when it progressed to the Build stage of the configurator.  Which was disappointing.  Since then I have been in touch with Skoda UK about this (and a couple of other requests for my order), and the latest info is that these 2 items should now be available for petrol engines (from about 3 weeks ago).  The on-line configurator certainly now allows it (when, once-upon-a-time, these heated elements were invisible to a TSI model selection), but it has not yet been possible to add the options to my order.  There is some correspondence happening between Skoda UK (who have been v patient & helpful) and the Skoda factory.  I hope that, once Czech Skoda return from their 3 week summer break, things may be clearer.

My parents held back their order due to heated seats not being available on the 1.4 TSi, around 2 weeks ago they got the call that the order could now be placed so the heated seats are definitely onto the system (having previously been missing)

Heated Seats on my 1.4 TSI didn't cause a problem in June - they were accepted onto the Build; it was just the Screen & Nozzles that produced an error.

Thats the Skoda system for you. The option was there when my parents went over the specs but when the order was actually placed it had been pulled. It was confirmed by Skoda UK that both the winter pack and heated seats had been removed from the 1.4 but no-one knew why. It then re-appeared again with no explanation as to why

Ive ordered mine with heated windscreen with no problems ??

Give it six months and they'll have sorted themselves out and maybe added one or two things they should have already.

Best time to order and any niggles might be fixed too. :)

Noticed this when specing up a vRS. Why on earth have three separate options all reliant on eachother; just offer a bloody winter pack for 430 quid and be done with it Skoda!

fancied the heated windscreen and washers but cant get without taking heated seats and thats not something i want to add on so just not going to bother with any of them.

I wanted the heated windscreen but ended up having to get the heated seats as well to get the package. Weird!

Just ordered my 1.4TSI Elegance with the Winter Pack and it's gone through successfully.

I spoke to a dealer this week about ordering a new Vrs estate, one of the key things I definitely wanted was the winter pack, I've been told that if I order the diesel I can have it but its not available on the petrol despite being on the configurator...:-(

They do have a winter pack which is what I ordered which is heated front seats, washer heaters, and heated windscreen ??

Just don't look on the Skoda CZ configurator, where you can pick all of them separately as well as the various light options (like you can spec rain/light sensor on its own without paying £1000 for xenons).

Edit: Or just a TSI 4x4 Elegance.

They do have a winter pack which is what I ordered which is heated front seats, washer heaters, and heated windscreen ??

In the VRS configurator the winter pack is not an option and gives you the impression that you can spec each of the three items heated screen/nozzles/seats individually. However, as soon as you select one, the other two have to be selected as well.

I've just spoken to Skoda UK and the winter pack is definitely not available on the TSI engines. In fact, my order is on hold because the winter pack is specified. You can get the heated seats, but not the winter pack as a whole.

I'm really annoyed about this, partly because of my order being held up and the dealer not telling me, and partly because I wanted the heated windscreen in particular.  :@

I've just spoken to the dealer and the Skoda ordering system is showing my order as accepted including the winter pack. They're checking...

Confusion reigns!  The August brochure says that the Winter Pack (heated windscreen, seats & washers) is not an option Tsi engines.  But you can get the heated seats as a separate option or by ordering the leather option on the vRS and the heated washer nozzles can be specified as a separate option also.  So all you lose out on is the heated windscreen.

When you use the configurator each item appears separately.  But specify the heated  windscreen or the washers and you have to add the other 2.

Bizarre! But which is correct?
