Heated Front Windscreen

Featured Replies

well you cant order the heated washers only on a vrs tdi.  I tried last week but the dealer came back to me to say the system had refused it. :(

Someone really needs a rocket up their arse at Skoda. The specs of the Octavia have been a complete cockup recently.

The plot thickens... The Winter Pack is definitely not available on TSI engines currently, but it may become available at some point in the future. My dealer has a query in with the factory to see if there is a proposed build date.

I'm kinda pleased I'm not looking at the Mk3 for a good year yet - if not a little longer. With any kind of luck everything will be sorted by then.

No winter pack available on the petrol - if I was actually looking to buy now that would be a deal breaker!

According to my dealer, the Skoda factory say that the winter pack will not be offered on the 2014 Octavia TSI. They may decide to offer it on the 2015 model, but that won't be for at least 9 months.

I've switched my order to the 2.0TDI and saved some money on my monthly payments.

Update from my contact in Customer Services who has been in dialogue with the factory:

Skoda had intended to offer the Heated Front Screen with TSI engines as of now (which is why, I guess, it re-appeared on the Configurator in July), but 'Technical Issues' have forced a re-think.  Week 22 in 2014 is quoted as the expected date of appearance of this option for the petrol-engined cars.  Given the on-off history of this option, I wouldn't bank on week 22 (or even the 2014).  My build has been held in limbo because of this.  Once I remove the heated screen option, it should pass back into the system, but, if the Build Week is delayed too much, I may cancel and re-think (I don't want a new car delivered during winterish months).

That fits with what my dealer said. I suspect they intend to start the build of the 2015 model in week 22.

You're dedicated to the option for you're prepared to wait until next June for your car! I went with the quicker option and switched to a TDI.

I did consider doing just that, but I see TDIs as an expensive option initially and, nowadays, also down the line (qv Honest John's views).  Our driving pattern and annual mileage are better suited to a petrol engined car that I hope we will keep for at least 10 years.  I would indeed wait for next summer (coz I think our 15 year-old Scorpio will take another MOT in its stride), but there is another element in the household that says that holidaying in the Western Isles with a new car would be less of a risk.  Hence I have asked the dealer to remove the heated screen from our build.  However, as I indicated above, if the Build Week emerges as too close to the back end of autumn, I will cancel - my plan was to run in the car with a trip down the M6 to London in October to bed in the pistons.  Pottering around locally in winter instead wouldn't be the ideal baptism.

fancied the heated windscreen and washers but cant get without taking heated seats and thats not something i want to add on so just not going to bother with any of them.

I also did this. Wanted just the heated windscreen but wasnt prepared to pay for the other bits I didnt want just to get it!
