Fan/regen still playing up!! Think I will be booking it in for a check over!

This morning it cut in less than a mile from home, I continued to Morrisons, 10 miles of motorway work,

pulled up at the supermarket, & it was going again!!!

Came back from Blackpool Monday, mpg average hit 62.5 always does better on way home than on the way there, (59.9).

As I reported in my noisy wipers thread, car going in 9th Oct to have wipers reset, dealership think factory incorrectly fitted them!!

I also picked up another 2 stone chips coming back from Blackpool, o/s front spoiler? bottom lip under large grill under Number plate!! Got 3 now!! Grrr!!

That aside, I'm as happy as Larry with it!!!

Car survived the storm, took just 9 leaves off it!!!

Car still awesome, done 2500 miles now since 31st May.

O/S wiper still noisy unless rain is heavy, thinking of having blade changed, but it might be too much pressure from the spring under the arm,

wiper no longer hits pillar since adjusted at dealership.

That's my update, still very pleased with it!!!

Dealer has changed both wiper blades, & it hasn't cured the problem, there's some improvement, but they still make a noise in drizzle/light rain!!!

I'm still loving the car, but also like a moan, as much as the next bloke, so that said....

Regen has run everyday this week!!! Very annoying, as work is just 2 miles, I arrive, switch engine off & fans start up, takes a few mins to cut off,

I don't like to leave it until it's stopped!!! It happened again this morning after a 10 mile drive to the supermarket, but was fine when I got back home!!!

Probably take it in Tues, but dealer will just tell me they do that!!!

DPF on our current Yeti goes into overdrive with regens every winter, believe it's not getting warm enough to do passive cleans. Improved the situation by fitting a Heko lower grill cover to reduce the cold air entering the engine bay. Not completely successful but get a lot less regens then without it. Also wonder if winter fuel is causing more sooting :wonder:

Dealer and SUK have both given it a clean bill of health and say normal, although the daily cycles did and does seem a bit OTT to me.

Interesting!!! Have so far threatened car with a swift kick up the exhaust if it doesn't behave!!!

My 1.6TDI Fabia did the same thing in the winter, my work run is 4.5 miles one way.

When a regeneration starts and fails to complete it starts again the next time the car starts, until the cycle has completed.  If you do see the DPF (yellow) light you need to take action and go for a drive to clear the DPF as per the instruction book.

I choose the 1.4TSI because I did not want to have a concerns with the DPF and no longer will be doing long journeys at the weekend.

DJ, I think your low mileage is the problem unfortunately and short trips don't help as we all know. I'm averaging over 500 miles per week and I can count the number of regens, that I have noticed, on one hand.

You could be right, I've only got 2,750 miles on the clock, & since giving it a run yesterday, it seems to have settled back down.

It had just done a week of short local runs, shops, work ect.

O/s wiper has now started scratching screen, so far the o/s pillar has been adjusted to stop it hitting the pillar,

& it's had a new set of blades fitted, these helped but didn't 100% cure the problem of noisy wipers, then this weekend, I noticed scratches in the glass,

I have just showed Vindis Skoda Cambridge, they were great, & have ordered me a new pair of wiper arms & blades, hopefully these will do the trick,

I've suspected the o/s wiper arm from the start! It looks slightly crooked to me!!

What have Vindis said about the damaged screen and getting it replaced?

  • Author

No, they've not mentioned the screen as yet.

I'm very happy!!! Vindis Skoda Cambridge replaced my wiper arms, & I now have silent wipers! Bliss!!!

They have also ordered me a new windscreen, & will call me when it's arrived, it's coming over from the factory,

when they fit it, the wiper blades will also be changed, Happy!!!

Interesting to see that you are happy with the same dealer that iDENTITi is struggling to get his car repaired with!

Haven't seen this, not been on for a while.

All I can say is they've dealt with my wiper problems to my satisfaction, & I'm happy with the service I've received!

Valet pics were shocking on iDENTITTi's car tho!!

New screen was fitted on Wednesday, I had a 14 reg Roomster Scout for the day!!! Very Basic, a van with seats in!!!!

Job went quite well, except, the specialist snapped plastic ticket holder, so they've ordered me another one, so it will have to go back for half an hour, when it comes in!!!

I don't mind, I enjoy going to the dealership!!!
