Had my sill guards & front mudflaps fitted today, they said "We normally wash the cars we work on, but your sill guards need 12hrs for the adhesive to set, so we didn't do yours!!"

Was just looking at the pictures on page 1 and thought.....that looks familiar....got my mk2 vrs octy from vindis in january and it was parked at the same place haha!

Even thought I live in norfolk I spend quite a bit of time in cambridge as work in Waterbeach so will have to keep my eye out for you!!!

Can I ask what you were driving before?

Love the look, and I even like the interior, but I am a messy person (and have young kids) so am glad that I am getting the black interior - even if it does not look as good -

just reading another post about the 2.0 v 1.6. wanting to get some positives re the drop in engine size

Obviously the 2.0 will be the more powerful, but I am perfectly satisfied with the 1.6, as I said in the other thread, each to his/her own!!

I polished my black door trims with polish then wax. No damage occurred and they look fine. I used 100% cotton towels from halfords to buff off. You can use micro fibre cloths as well, as I did for the final buff up.

Was in dealership yesterday, & the showroom car has scratches in the black also, & it's kept inside, just dusting has caused it!!

I pointed it out to a salesman, & he said Black chrome is very difficult to look after!! Black chrome?!!!

While I was there, my previous 12 plate Mk2 FL 1.6 TDI DSG SE Plus was put on sale on the used car forecourt, Bit of a mark up!! £13,990

When we traded the Octy I 4x4 for SWMBO's FL Octy II, we only got £1,600 for the trade in. It was 8 years old and needed new tyres and the aircon had packed up but had only done 44k. It went on the forecourt for £3,995, that's a whopping 150% mark up!!

I got £12,250 for it trade in.

£1,740 mark up on a trade in does not seem unrealistic. I guess the real answer lies in whether or not you obtained further discount off list price on your new car, or just paid list as it appears that there is currently about £3K discount available in the new car + finance incentives if you spec one up to circa £24K list price.

When we traded the Mk I for SWMBO's Mk II, despite the £2.4K mark up on the trade in, we did get 15% off the list price which was worth £3K and that was before the VAT free deals started and VAT was only 15% in 2009 anyway!

Picked up a stone chip this morning, N/S front wing between the fog light & wheel arch, down to the undercoat!!!

This weekend the car in front of me thrown a stone at my windshield but lucky me nothing happened

3 options for me I reckon, 1) Get it done at chips away near me, 2) buy touch up stick, or 3) leave it

It's almost the size of half my little finger nail, so noticeable!!

Or a 4th option wait for more chips and change the windshield using the ensurance policy.

It's the front n/s wing not the windscreen!

Ouch +1 I got bashed by a lump of flying tarmac on the M5 whem my Blackline was less then 6 months old which actually dented the front o/s wing just above the headlight and went down to the metal so it was an easier choice for me dispite objections from SWMBO. I used a local bodyshop but if you're unsure why not try some (genuine Skoda) touch up as it's less than a tenner and if it stll annoys you get it professionally sorted. You could also try chipex.co.uk
