Skoda Paint sticks

Featured Replies

So I got a paint touch up set, along with my full size spare and change kit (no more panicking about a blow out).

It's VW standard issue, corrida red. Except they have helpfully covered the instructions up with the sticker...

There are two sticks, one red, one in a white bottle. Is the white bottle undercoat or lacquer?

Lacquer.

Plus one. The white one is the protective clearcoat.

As above lacquer, remember don't use the brush get a fine artist brush or a tooth pic

The best thing to use to touch up are girls nail art dotting tools. They are metal tips and have tiny ball bearing ends.

They are also used as embossing tools by people who do craft projects. Just touched up my VRS, and they work a treat.

Much more accurate than my usual attempts with a toothpick!

I did find that the laquer goes stringy very quickly when exposed out of the bottle, it's quite hard to work with compared

to the paint.

Can you upload a photo of that tool please ?

Hope this attachment works.

You can get these in different sizes, obviously the smaller the better for touching up stone chips.

I have stone chips on the bonnet and end of door scuffs, thanks to the little monkeys opening the door to it's widest setting in the driveway.

I can report that in the "Monte door versus Housebrick" stand off, the housebrick wins!

I also have a love set of diamond claw introduced hairline scratches on the rear bumper - dog was too lardy to jump in clean!

Luckily, being outnumbered in a house of 3 girls (me and the dog frequently take refuge in his kennel), I should be ablee to find some useful make up applicators to help!

I have loads of stone chips from the weekend. Just away to tidy them up.

Touching in is invisible, with good quality Touch up Paint and no lacquer is used.

Fine using the lacquer if its neat, just do not rub all the good paint around the spot while trying to level in the touch up spot or spots.

(work when its a nice dry day but not too warm, not too cool, but cooler metalwork helps the paint settle smoother.

Make sure you get the wax off before touching up,

and if its through the white primer (on a Red car)

to metal, be sure that there is no corrosion on the metal before touching up.

( SKO-8151)

if there was a chip to the metal, get a touch of 'rust inhibitor on it first before touching/covering up
