Adding dab capability

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2013 Superb S and would love to know if anyone has upgraded the radio to receive dab stations if so what was the cost and how do you find it

Many thanks Eric

Beyond the DAB units available from the likes of Halfords or swapping your current H.U. to an Amundsen+ that has DAB included (altough you will have to add a DAB antenna as well). I have opted for the Just connect aftermarket DAB unit:

http://www.justconnectme.co.uk/

It is being fitted this Thursday and I will report if it lives up to the website claims. At £200.00 it is a bit steep, but they do come to you and fit the unit as well. Hopefully it will do as described and display all the info on my Columbus unit just like it was installed from the factory.

There are as rare as hens teeth DAB Columbus units around, but they go for over £1200.00 each!!!!

I use a Pure pocket DAB hooked in to the aux socket in armrest, use either battery power and recharge at home or can power using 12v socket

Works fine and I can also use it out of the car with earphones

What a cracking idea!

I presume control must be through the Pure Radio. Is anything (radio station etc) displayed on your car unit when the DAB is plugged in?

Cheers.

Yea control is via Pure unit, volume to max, chose Chanel then adjust volume in Swing

All display shows is "Aux" along with temp/time

Thanks a lot for that.

Do you have the swing radio?

Any feedback on how this works please?

Just my two pennies but I would hang on until there are some better models on the market. I have a 62 L&K which doesn't have dab. When it went in for repair I was given a passat as a courtesy car for a couple of days. This had a dab radio and I thought that the radio was brilliant and that it hardly lost the signal which was something I was concerned about. It dawned on me after a day or two that the radio was actually flicking between dab and fm. Every day on my commute to work it would flip at the same points. When I made some casual enquiries if the aftermarkets currently do this and the answer was no.

So potentially you could end up with some gaps.

I have the L&K and I use the tv to get dab radio,R5 live.
