Official Mk3 VRS Pics and spec

Featured Replies

As it is, the new vRS is cheap compared with the GTI, but expenisve compared with the Mk2.

But we don't know what the price nor the standard spec are yet!

Although yes, it's safe to assume it will be less than the Golf and more than the Octy2.

FWIW I just priced up a Golf 5 door GTI manual TSI.

Standard barring, white and the 'Santiago' 19" wheels (as per Octy Combi?)............ £28K :o

The prices will be revealed around the same time as Goodwood from what I've read.

Just checked the list price of my 2.0 Elegance (lease for me) against the same for a Golf, Passat and A4. The Octy is way cheaper and of equal quality (not badge), so sure the VRS at £25K with a few options has to be realistically good value- surely?

not happy with the RS oobster?

Not got the RS anymore, now got a 2012 Focus ST-3, need to change my profile! Fed up with the ST-3 though, broke down twice within 2 months of buying it then someone skelped it up the back at a roundabout recently, it's in the bodyshop just now being repaired. Want rid of it!

I reckon most people would scrap the 19" wheel idea for the performance pack which is about the same price. Then a 230hp car with big brakes and an e-diff for 28k seems like pretty good value compared to the MK6 to a similar spec kit wise.

However........................judging by this zoomed in shot of the white combi from the press pics it does look like there are different brakes or at lease they are different to the standard setup on my FL vRS. The 312mm brake caliper doesn't have a red strip on the inside of the brake like shown on this pic. They also look bigger than the current brakes given that those wheels on show are the 19'' option wheel. We will have to wait and see......

The vRS wont have bigger brakes than a standard MK7 GTi, it has retained 312" front discs for sure. May be a different unit but guaranteed to be the same size.

Well, once we have some hard facts we'll know how good value it is ;)

Still very interested!

Petrol Estate, DSG, Panoramic roof, Leather, Columbus, 18s. In silver.

Yes please!!

One day - need to wear out my FL Mk 2 first!

Really should merge the 15 vRS threads.....

I want, I want, I want......and I want it now, not in a months time.

But it all comes down to price, 180 hp diesel is looking interesting

Lol, you've all been spoilt by the bargain basement prices for the Octy 2.

The cheapest Golf GTI, 3 door TSI, is £25,845.

You can already get a discount of over £3k on the Golf GTI.......discounted price is £22686.65 - source drivethedeal

I was thinking of buying one but I like the look of this new VRS now, hmmm, decisions, decisions,

I still can't get my head around the vRS pricing. Does anyone think that the Elegance has the L&K price point and therefore the vRS will be cheaper? Wishful thinking? TBH I'm more interested in the looks than all the Elegance fancy stuff so keep the tw*t nav, folding mirrors, auto lights and give me the big wheels, body kit and sports seats!

Sadly not I feel. I fear the trusty 312mm (pink after 3 months) calipers will be dragged out. Spec the 19" wheels and they'll look like an Austin 7 setup.

Come on Skoda give us a big brake option the 345mm shared by all other VW brands will do

Are you slumming it in the Skoda forum Moley? Thought you were driving executive metal these days?

What I see I like... now I have to plan on how to buy one, probably not this year though  !!

This is a serious contender for the next main car in the Chappers' household when the current Blackline gets replaced. Seeing as that won't be for at least another 3 years I'm hoping that there will be some half decent offers available by then as well!

maybe if we go to the local dealer at the same time we can get a discount for buying two! Ha ha

Yeh, but there are good discounts available on the Golf though. I've been offered 10.5% off a standard 5 door car from a main dealer.

I'd love too... but I bought my motorhome last year and have that on finance for another 2 years  .. maybe by then the VAT offer will be around!!

sounds like a bit of a lemon! someone smacking it in the back might have been trying to do you a favour, cant get on with the back on the new Focus at all!

mmmm looks nice but will it be a better tower than the last one?

Id presume towing wouldnt be the primary market for the VRS model tbh.

Or fuel consumption figures ;)

Just released to dealers apparently:

A real driver’s car.

Amongst the innovations for the new Octavia vRS the driver will be able to select his preferred engine note (presumably through a switchable exhaust system). The car also features a sophisticated multi-link rear axle, progressive electromechanical steering and the new XDS front differential lock for improved cornering grip.

Flat bottomed steering wheels and a choice of 17”, 18” and 19” alloy wheels will feature on the options list. The car will also be available to order, for the first time, in the stunning new Meteor Grey colour.

Far better looking than the Golf GTI imo, can't wait to see the costs. What ever the cost, I'm getting one! My driving pleasure has been written off since I made the mistake of buying a Yeti, lovely car but I really really miss the grunt of the VRS.
