will air con condensor be under warranty?

Featured Replies

Had my car in to my local Skoda dealer for a free health check this morning and it seems my condensor is leaking, they are contacting the warranty company (skoda warranty) to see if its covered, do you think it will be and if not how much do they cost?

The condensor I doubt will be covered due to the fact its so exposed to the elements. All it takes is 1 really bad stone to hit the condenser and then it could leak.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Its not a consumable or service part.

If you crack your windscreen would it be covered by warranty? Its not a consumable or service part

I recently replaced the condenser on my car. To buy from Skoda your looking around £240, I bought from GSF for £103 delivered the next day. Fitted like the standard unit, bar 1 of the 5 bolts that mount it to the radiator which did'nt line up correctly.

Got mine done last month under warrenty mechanic who looked at my car said the condensers were rubbish .

No, but the OP didn't say it was damaged, only that it was faulty. If the screen was leaking at the edges, then damn right I'd expect the warranty to sort it.

Had mine replaced by Skoda only a month after I bought the car second hand (May '12). Did some research and found a history of compressors failing on VAG models, made my case to the local dealer who took it up with Skoda UK. Skoda offered to replace the parts under warranty and Vindis Skoda (Bury St Edmunds) very kindly stumped up half of the labour costs, which I thought was very fair. I was left with £90 to pay on a job (supposedly) costing over a grand.

Good luck!

I think you are talking about the compressor & not the condenser

Re the condenser if it shows signs of physical damage then I would have thought a claim under the warranty is unlikely, if its failed through the part simply failing then I would expect it to be covered & fight it if they wont pay

Had my Condenser replaced under warranty, it was leaking down one side in a dodgy weld

Fair enough. Guess I didn't read the question!

For the OP, if its as simple as a dodgy weld get it rewelded, a few quid in the pocket of someone at an engineering company will see it sorted
