TVR

Featured Replies

Great news hopefully.

Always been tempted by a TVR, put off by reliability issues, potential for hedge finding and potential for big bills.

Wish them all the luck though and hopefully they will start building reliable engines, which it appears TVR Power have learnt how to do nowadays.

I can't see them building their own engines, the older ones just won't meet todays emmisions standards. Designing their own is probably a non starter, you're into multi millions for a new engine built from scratch. Yes I guarantee it will be bought in, maybe a few tweeks to individualise the motor to the car design.

Still, many other niche car makers have success in the UK as do Noble, Ascari, Caterham etc.

It would be nice to see TVR back on the road again and give us something to feel good about.

Not sure that emissions are an issue on a low volume car.

Some people have already fitted LS2/3 engines to TVR's, wouldn't be a bad choice if they did source an engine.

They all have to meet the current emmisions targets, even with Individual Vehicle Approval. What you do to it after Approval and registration is another matter, anything goes, as long as it's capable of passing the MOT.

Still no real update:

Such high levels of interest are tremendously flattering and, as we continue to make exciting progress with our development plans, it’s certainly tempting to reveal snippets.

However, we continue to believe it’s best not to share details of our plans publicly just yet. We understand this is the source of a little frustration for some, though a majority of the community have been generous in applauding our tight-lipped stance. In previous years there have been disappointments, when early announcements came to nothing, and we’re determined not to make similar mistakes. However, we’re pleased to report enormous progress towards TVR’s return and our relative silence shouldn’t be interpreted as anything more than our absolute focus on making this comeback permanent

Rather wait for a while for something good than short wait for something that lasts 12 months and goes pop though

First potential new TVR revealed:

Former F1 designer Gordon Murray and his design company is helping to develop the new range of TVR cars that are set to take the marque back to Le Mans.

Gordon Murray Design is leading the development and the cars will be powered by V8 Cosworth engines.

Quite like that, went in a TVR for the first time at the weekend, a friend has a TVR Griffith 500, was suitably impressed.

I hope they can remember that TVRs were supposed to be ****ing bonkers.

I think it looks pretty awesome, good to see TVR back and looking at the front of this it looks happy to be back itself

It even looks like a TVR; now hopefully the nannyware systems will be kept to a minimum as they should be on a TVR.

Likey a lot.

Got a hint of Mazda RX7 about it, which is no bad thing.

Wish them well.

I think there would have been something in the motoring press.

Vapourware I suspect.

There have been various rumours over the last twelve months and a recent interview I saw with Gordon Murray seemed to confirm them...

New car looks good. Lost a little of the "wild" look from the last TVR designs at the front, but definately in keeping with a modern version of the griffith/chimera era. Not too sure on those wheels though, but apart from that I'm more than happy for someone to buy me one as a gift :D

I have to say though, the interior is my favourite....

Who else would have a button labelled "KILL" on their dashboard :D:D

And one that's even more clearly "traction control off" than a Skoda "ASR" button too. :D

Extra info and a piccy

I might be in the minority but I think that looks a little tame from the front for a TVR.

It might be that the safety laws are forcing a reduction in madness.

The proof will be in the sound, not much sounds like a TVR but again I be the bloody regs will have ruined that too.

There isn't much that sounds better than an old Griffith 500

I wonder if anyone can program the sound generator in my 3 series to sound like that?
