That's my guy too actually. The lady at the service desk seems like she could care less. Kevin though seems on the ball and we've been able to work out a decent deal. Had to string him along a bit though as we're buying a house and the mortgage has to finalise before we can buy and it's been taking ages but he's been really cool about it.

Hope their after-sales service is good! Glad to hear someone else has used them.

Don't worry! Not a spy!

  • .....personally I'd consider going 2.0 TDi, for the extra cost alot more performance and not a great deal dirtier or less efficient.....certainly rather spend extra money there than optioning a 1.6 my

  • Agreed, Columbus is nice if you can justify the cost but frankly it does little extra over the Amundsen other than offer a bigger screen and HDD jukebox which with SD card isnt really needed, also DVD

  • My map version is 0018 2012/2013. I haven't checked whether mine has the option either, I've just read the manual? The speed limits are just displayed, I didn't have to program it. FYI I have a Mac a

When are you are hoping to order it and what trim and colour you thinking about? It's nice to meet someone else who has used them too!

Hoping to order it Friday night. It all depends on the fine fine folks at Abbey and their mortgage underwriting department pulling their heads out of their rear ends and getting things done!

Elegance trim all the way. Waffled around a bit on the details until coming onto this thread but I think I'll go for 2.0 TDI DSG and see what the Bi-Xenons come up to. Had all the PCP options done for a 1.6 w/Columbus and with the Skoda finance calculator offline and Kevin out of the office on his holiday until Wednesday, I've been unable to see what that would do to my monthly. Coming off of a company car scheme so no trade in value, just a couple grand deposit + £500 Skoda contribution. Will probably aim for a September delivery to get the '63 reg as I'm in a rental from Snows Toyota (reallly good rental rates on high spec cars if you're ever in a pinch) until then.

I initially wanted the brilliant silver (they had a 1.6 manual demo w/Columbus in that colour) but then I saw the steel grey on the one they had in the showroom over by Kevin's desk a few weeks back (I think that's what the colour name is) and loved the way it looked so changed my mind to that. However I'm also liking the blue used on "Timoctav"'s Octavia in his profile picture further up this thread. I liked that similar blue on the Golf that we looked at before realising what a better value for money the Octavia was but I wasn't able to see any samples of it in person. I really wanted to see it on a real car before committing to it. It seems some of the colours tend to flatten out the bold body details of the car that I like. (I think white and black both do this).

How about you?

I am also a private owner, it was a toss up between the Golf MK 7 and the new Octavia and the Octavia won hands down, for me it was much better, nicer car.

I have got the Elegance trim (what else) with Race Blue metallic paint (favourite colour) and the 1.4 TSI manual engine, I don't do diesel driving (I'm not a diesel lover but they're great for people who benefit from them). I'm hoping it arrives soon, the anticipation is killing me,

I wanted a stock car, so chose the race blue over silver or "brown".

Not in the UK - seat heating is front only.

Come on... are you sure about this? Why would we get this in other countries then?

Certain in as much as rear seat heating is not listed as an option either in the Octavia brochure or the UK configurator. Didn't pursue it as I wouldn't want rear seat heating anyway. In fact I only got front seat heating as it I definitely did want front windscreen heating and this is only available as a winter pack which includes front seat heating and heated washer nozzles. Heated seats are desirable IMO if you've got leather seats but not so much with alcantara, which I've got. In fact with leather seats as much as seat heating is good for the winter then seat ventilation is desirable for the sumer, but the latter isn't available as far as I know.

Strange how different importers have different option availability - doesn't seem to be much logic to it sometimes.

No logic at all for this. If people want to have this option so be it. Sorry to hear not all options are available in all countries :envy:
