Half the fun of the huge brakes is looking at them lol

  • While were all showing off our massive brakes these are my Tarox b32's with carbon Lorain CL5+ pads. ALl the stopping power a man needs lol!

Can you get the back wheels off the ground?

Can you get the back wheels off the ground?

Epic

That is all

Moar powaaaar!

Very very nice brakes, and something differant as well.

Sexual!

Jase, I am just thinking about big brakes and modifications in general.

Here is a question for you and the rest of the guys on Brisky.

After speaking with vRSy, about performance upgrades, I wonder what actually is gained on a track day per £ spent? For example, ARB, Springs and shocks, brakes, semi slicks, remap and inlet/exhaust etc. = how many seconds on track?

I have probably gained half a second on a lap of Bedford? If I had to guess?

The irony is I think I have gained a little more unsprung weight as the rotors are quite heavy, so this might marginally hinder acceleration after the later braking.

Also, if my tyres can only brake XX fast, what's the point in YY braking power? :D

Cos they look XXX ;)

These were my thoughts, as you chase one thing the next thing becomes the weak link until eventually you are either skint OR you have bought a different car.

I know this sounds negative but it is all down to personal choice. Your Fabia is quite a beast and as fast as a TT-RS

I am sure I will get lured into the same scenario as I do more track days.

Stuff later braking....it's what happens towards the end of the lap(s) that counts when they're still going strong. Anything short of an evo or a track day special is going to have problems.

Brake harder, brake longer...

Braking viagra? :giggle:

Nice brakes makes my ap 4 lots look small very jealous

Discs are a bit small :p , but nice calipers

Maybe the smaller discs can still lock up the wheels, but bigger brakes will give you the opportunity to keep the braking power very near locking up.

And keep that braking power untill standstill (and a couple of times)

That wont be possible with too small brakes.

Maybe the tyre is limiting ultimate brake power, but the brakes transform the braking power from the tyre to the car.

I've yet to try them properly, but they do feel OK generally. Only got about 100 miles or so done in them so far. Bit of an odd grinding noise, but I think that will diminish. One pad was a little sticky to get in to the caliper, so hopefully its just rubbing on the disc a little more than it should when no pedal being applied.

Take your time to bed them in!

Could otherwise ruin them in seconds.

^^^ That's very true. I killed a nice new set of tar ox brake discs

on my Golf within 2 weeks of fitting them. Back to OE after that,

was unable to buy them a second time at the time, I couldn't afford it.

Expensive way to learn that lesson. :(

I've not even come close to using them properly.

They brakes look as good as a dirty big slut

The lager heavier disks make for higher rotational inertia which affects acceleration and deacceleration. Yet, they look great. Have fun with them.

I'm not sure if the discs are heavier/lighter. They are only 7mm diameter bigger than my last ones, but then they are made slightly differently - there's two parts and the inside bit bolts to the disc part. Suppose it might make for easier changing as the disc is essentially a generic part where the stud pattern is irrelevant?

I thought the biggest advantage of that was keeping the temps down?

Two piece should be lighter, the centres are ally and the friction part is steel. Overall should be lighter than your brembo set up.

Calipers did not feel overly heavy for their size. Almost wish I had weighed one now....
