Help! - Estate boot opening switch faulty!

Featured Replies

Hello!

First post from a long time lurker, but after an extensive search, this doesn't seem to be covered.

My estate's boot won't open using the switch on the tailgate. It's fine on the remote, and before it stopped working, it was sometimes a bit reluctant to work, taking a couple of seconds to react.

Based on another thread, I don't think it's the Central Convenience Unit, as the opening signal from the fob will go through that as well.

First thoughts are that the switch is faulty or needs a clean (like my cruise control switch does regularly - info gleaned from this mighty forum! :) ), but it's sealed from the outside and buried inside the tailgate from the inside.

Can anyone tell/show me how to remove the interior trim from the tailgate so I can access the switch please? There aren't any obvious screws or fasteners and I'm reluctant to force the issue for fear of breaking something!

Many thanks

Ed.

That's fantastic, thank you *very* much :)

Reading elsewhere, tool 3409 seems to be just a plastic wedge, so I think I shall be pressing some non-stick kitchen implements into service, like I do to get at the cruise control switch!

Any comments on how you got on with this as I think I might need to take the trim off of my tailgate to get to the boot release switch?

Thanks.

Did you get your tail gate switch working. I have the same problem, it works on the fob but not the switch / handle . Would be very useful if you could tell me what it is.

Ps I have cleaned with contact spray to no avail

Thanks
