the black beast arrived yesterday...

Featured Replies

after a wait of just 2 weeks, my new toy, the black RS arrived at my house yesterday on the back of a transporter.... :D

the car was bought from TINS, and must say that the service was excellent, and I could have had it sooner if I had turned around the payment and insurance documents quicker - it was also the best price but who cares how much it costs when something is this much fun!!

haven't had too much of a chance to get out and about since yesterday, thought I had better spend some time with the family as I work away all week - I'll be out and about as much as possible when I'm away..

have no real plans for additions, just the usual - sill protectors, mudflaps.

I'm considering some McGard lock nuts - has anyone used these and if so what is the code of the bolts used, as one place I rang didn't have a listing for the RS.

Also considering an alarm and stereo upgrade, but will have to wait for the funds - any recommendations for a cat 1 alarm?

anyway I've been a browser on here and vwvortex for sometime, but now feel worthy enough to post myself.

Hi Gunnie,

Welcome to the RS owners fold. Hope you have many pleasent miles of motoring ahead of you.

Regarding lock nuts, your RS should already have lock nuts fitted to the wheels. these are covered and protected by plastic covers. I am not sure about the McGard nuts although the Golf mkIV or Audi TT ones should fit. You should check first.

Hi Guinne,

Welcome to the site and of course more importantly I hope you enjoy your RS. I'm really glad you got good service from TINS, seems one can have his cake and eat it

Re nuts: Just about any Audi/VW/Seat part will cross fit somewhere, like manny says try and grab a test of one. Also the little spanner in the boot, the black plastic item over the phillips driver will get your wheel nuts started, saves fiddling them in with cold fingers

Hi and welcome!

hope that your Rs is everything you'd hoped for and that you have plenty of happy miles in it - i'm sure you will.

Welcome on board, you'll love it, we know you will :D

Any questions just fire away!

I have the cat 2-1 upgrade thats in the Skoda accessory manual, its part no is 998 SKA 002 and its made by Skorpion.

I had trouble with it giving false alarms, the dealer has now fiited relacement sensor under the year warranty that is given on accessories.

thanks for the kind responses....what a great car, had a great time driving up the M6 yesterday morning, even with keeping the revs down!!

I was a bit concerned at one point though when the dashboard lit up like a xmas tree, and the airbag light stayed on. I had it checked out at a dealer yesterday and they reset the light staying it was reporting an intermitent fault, and that I should get it checked out by checking all the connections behind the dashboard. Has anyone else had this problem, the mechanic seemed to imply that this was a common fault, and that I must have gone over a bump to set it off!!

Whilst I was there I looked at the factory alarm, and it was

never heard of the dashboard lighting up as a common problem.

as for security, my car came fitted with gps navtrak pro, which although it costs me 15notes a month, it really does great peace of mind. if my car goes without the system being deactivated, they'll phone me in a very short time. i know it works cos i tested it :D
