  • So this is my super cool Rapid. Love the color and the engine sound.  My English is too poor to express all my feelings and impressions. The model is Drive level equivalent to Ambition + some optional

Thanks! I found the color on the skoda uk web configurator. It's called Platin Grey Metallic so it's also available to the UK market.

Hmmm, well, just a mini update.

The lack of one touch up windows is actually annoying me slightly more than I thought. Particularly in such hot weather as now, when the windows are always down. Many cars also let you wind the windows up after you've switched off the ignition, but the Rapid doesn't so you have to put the keys back in if you forget - which is quite often for me.

Also, I only discovered today that because my steering wheel doesn't have the remote audio controls, I can instead use the maxi-dot trip rocker switch to change the track when on a CD/Bluetooth/MDI, and when in Audio mode on the maxi-dot. 'Cool', I thought at first, but actually, it's just half-arsed as I can't control anything else remotely...

Otherwise though, I'm still in love with this car. It's still as comfortable, as nippy and overall as pleasing as I hoped it would be.

Whilst I'm not yet getting the economy I'd truly like to see (about ~5MPG short), I'm still mightily impressed with the TSI engine. I did a daring overtake on a country road yesterday, dropped her into 3rd and as soon as I moved out, an approaching car appeared from round the corner. I crashed into it head on and died needn't have worried though because the little bugger pulled like a train! Really satisfied with the overtaking power of this little engine.

Elegance comes with full steering control/audio and bluetooth - which function are you missing?

Tested the fuel economy on my way to work this morning:

And on the way back home - a slightly flatter route, about 1.5 miles shorter:

That's more like it! I reset the trip economy for each run so it was a clean slate, and it's about 1/2 rural roads and 1/2 30mph town roads.

On another note, I'm really starting to regret not getting parking sensors. I feel like it's a matter of time before I hit summat! Ah well :giggle:

Hills and roundabouts make a dramatic difference to the economy. I'm regularly getting high 50's (and sometimes low to mids 60's depending on traffic and ambient temp) indicated on my trip computer when driving to and from work. I re-set memory 2 each time I fill up and bank 2 tends to be a couple of MPG over what the full tank refill calculation works out at (has been saying around 56/57, the worked out figure coming in at 53/54).

Best I managed so far was a real world (not computer) calculated of 59 - wish i could get that out of each tank :giggle:

Not bad :)

High 50's are easily achievable in the Rapid, harder to get in the Fabia and Roomster from what I gather.

Been loosening mine up a bit, although I have not been gentle from the start - tried a different approach to my vRS - no red line but normal driving from 100 miles or so.

Gunned it at some roundabouts last night coming back from hospital and was dead impressed - would keep up with my old Fabia round the bends...

I'm averaging around 50mpg on the maxi-dot, still working on a brim-to-brim calculation.

Mind you, with only 450 miles on the clock it's probably still got to loosen up a bit.

on mixed cycle (city and highway - mostly highway), i am seeing around 6 - 6.3 lt / 100 km on maxi dot.

it could easily get below 6, like 5.8, if i drive a bit more economical.

Trip showed 64 mpg (4.4 lt/100km for the benefit of Arabas) after my drive in to work this morning  - it's definitely a 'bit' optimistic. Plus I'm only getting these figures because I gave up trying to do 70 on my commute ages ago, you have to slow back down to 60 because of lorries overtaking etc so frequently that it's not even funny.

I live pretty close to the A1 and often find myself doing trips up and down it somewhere down the line.

I like to set the cruise control at exactly 70mph, and the amount of cars that overtake me - obviously all speeding to some degree - is ridculous.

It's a quiet stretch really, I'm just over the border of North Yorkshire so it's not so bad. It seems people already consider the speed limit to 80mph anyway.

I had been intent on going for a facelift Yeti early next year, price permitting, but these mpg stories for the 1.2tsi Rapid are catching my attention... Quite like the look of that new Spaceback version. Hmmm. Shame they don't make a Scout version with raised suspension...hmm...

Not to make this thread into some sort of live update, but I went to Middlesbrough today, a 50 mile round trip for an HGV theory. It's mainly A-roads and dual carriageway, with a small amount of urban driving. In summary, very impressed indeed. I was just taking my time, cruising along.

Just filled up again. 55 out of the tank just used (trip indicated 57.8).

Have you worked out how inaccurate that is yet, you could be getting 40mpg. ;)

On that subject, literally just nipped out for petrol so I don't have to arse around tomorrow.

Last fill-up worked out 45.74mpg, this one has worked out 47.40mpg, so a slight improvement and I hope it'll keep improving now that I'm really trying for economy.

I managed a little over 60mpg on the run to get petrol, which isn't that difficult to achieve at this hour when the roads are quiet.

The trip computer shows the overall mpg to be something like 54mpg, but I cheated and reset it about ~100-150 miles ago, so it isn't a wholesome figure.#

I'm really rather skint at the minute and just had to use the credit card to fill up, so every extra mpg makes all the difference!

Looking at your display it shows an S in the top left, do you the DSG? Thought it was only available with the 1.4 TSI?
