just found on ebay

Featured Replies

£2,800 is the starting bid and there may be a reserve on it. Almost 6 and a half days to go so it'll go up a fair bit I'd imagine.

The images say you can buy it now for £6200 which does seem low.

something fishy going on, it's on autotrader for £9995

I'm no expert but £6200 seems ridiculously cheap for that car!

Also seems a bit dodgy with the 'Don't message me through eBay' approach.

And the fact he is new to eBay and has no feedback profile!!

Just too many issues so great care should be taken by the buyer to prove this add is authentic. The fact they say not to contact through Ebay for starters, there is nothing at all to stop this seller explaining the reasons. '0' feedback means no way of checking any previous transactions.

Additionally,  the low price is iffy ,I would have thought there should be an explanation in the text to clarify all these points.

It could of course be genuine as a number plate is displayed, but to take a risk on cars like this being sold online is a huge gamble. :bandit: ?

The first thing to do if interested would be HPI - could well be relying on someone not checking, buying it then taking on a load of finance!

Am i the only one who noticed that it has 19" alloys?????

If that's not a scam.... I'm the pope.

I remember the member now that had a vRS and was from the Tomintoul area.

Given Location being Blairnamarrow, (on the best driving road in Scotland the A93,)  AB37,

it will be interesting to see if the car is legit or not.

george

No reports of it being stolen, written off, etc and just 1 registered keeper.

That's odd because ebay doesn't allow people to post private email addresses anymore, presumably to prevent them evading ebay and Paypal fees. I'm sure it won't be long before it disappears from the listings.

Maybe someone should report it?

The Location for the car if near Blairnamarrow Cottage which is rather well know due to a recent sad event, and a more historic event.

I will be passing that way on Wednesday so might just get in touch and see if the car is available for viewing.

Wonderful place to take a vRS on a road test to see if it all works ok.

( i know the term 'Buyer Beware', is there one for 'Seller Beware'.?)

Scream if you want to go faster!

No engine bay pic?

Maybe No engine!

(they use the same Airfreshner as me, they were on 'Reduced Special' in Tescos sat only 50 pence for a packet of them.)

& an HTC Desire phone.

fishy, they will take the money and run! probably dont even own a car, let alone the one in the pictures.... THIS is why when I post pics on-line I rub out my numberplate, all they have to do is a google image search to make an add like this...

LEAVE WELL ALONE MATE.

THERE'S A LOT OF MONEY OF YOUR'S,  HERE AT STAKE. !!!!!!!!!

19" alloys...Black Grill and Sports seats as an extra?...............Er..No...Not legit in the slightest!!

No Email reply yet.

I would not touch with a Barge Pole, well not my Barge Pole,

(& if it was legit @ £6200 i would have it paid for in the blink of an eye & be off ragging it before it went to WBAC or an auction.)

Its amazing how many scams are not, and one lucky person profits.

We are always looking for that 'Woman Scorned' who is selling their ex's car that is in their name.

george

Cars being sold where there are only the likes of 4 houses in the area/location are always likely to be a con.

Look at the location given and you will see what i mean.

Yep, the ebay seller has just stolen the photos off the autotrader advert. If you look at the addresses, they're 267 miles apart...

That is the very first thing that anyone looks at when you see dodgy adverts.

Next thing you do is check the status on the car, then call the registered keeper if poss, or somebody that lives near where the car is supposed to be. or the seller.

These type of ads with an email address on the picture itself are always a scam. They do that so the auto scanners the websites use to check for email addresses don't register. Not sure what would happen if you tried to contact, but I'm guessing it's along the lines of - the car is a bargain, I just need £250 to release it to you or something similar. Never ever buy anything big or small from ebay where the seller asks you to contact outside of the site... Asking for trouble.

and an ebay member since yesterday.

I have just spoken to the real Autotrader seller and car owner..

He is now aware for the first time of the Scammer on Ebay.

EDIT<

off Ebay now

Well that's that. They'll be back with another car, another model no doubt. Buying on line is a very risky business as we all know and if it's something as expensive as a car people can be conned out of a lot of cash.

Nice to see then that when they were 'trying it on' they should have chosen a different make. Skoda Fabia drivers are far to clued up to be taken in by such knobheads! :moon:
