Return to Factory Settings for phone via MFD?

Hi,

Recently bought a pre-loved Yeti and I cannot see anywhere to remove the previous owners mobile details from the car config settings.   I have bluetoothed my mobile and all works fine - just annoying that it searches for the previous owners iphone everytime!

Thanks for your help

Having just handed back my previous Yeti I thought I'd do this myself in case the dealer didn't! I tried the MFD reset and it wasn't enough, it just reset my central locking and time preferences! Resetting the Bluetooth devices (and it does just remove all paired devices) required going into Phone on the head unit and selecting the Factory Reset option in there (separate to the other Setup/Reset option which just reset station presets for me).

Hope that helps!

Thanks guys. Yes, tried the MFD reset and that didnt clear the stored phone details for some reason (might be a fault or limitation with the factory reset option?)

Apologies ... I am being "blonde and girly" ...... did you mean performing some sort of reset using the 'radio unit' touch screen display and doing some sort of reset there? Or did you mean from the actual phone?  (I dont know the previous owner thus no access to his phone...)

Thanks for you help and time!

If should first search the original owners phone and because he/she no longer owns the Yeti, his phone will not be found and then the car will search for alternative phones, namely yours.

When re-entering the Yeti and turning the engine on again, it will search for the last 'searched' mobile ie. yours...

The unused iPhone can only be deleted via the maxi dot display and using the appropriate control know on the steering wheel.

If you still get stuck, send me a PM and I'll take you through it step by step.

Hmm still stuck! lol.  Haven't got options on the stalk... so tried the scroll bar on the steering wheel and the phone option there. No joy - nothing regarding Bluetooth options.

Found the previous owners THREE I-phones listed under Media. Attempted to delete them but it complains and says I cant as they are phones too or some such garbage.

Tried factory reset on the touch screen for everything. No joy! It removed all my personal settings and radio stations but his I-phones still try and connect - grrr!

Amazing how something so trivial is so difficult to find out how to remove it!!!  They couldn't make it more complex if they tried!!! lol

Don't despair! When I had my aftermarket MDI fitted the stereo fitter paired his iPhone to test the bt function I was stuck with it. I did manage it through the maxidot and vaguely recollect that you had to have a phone paired to delete any other phone. I'm afraid I cannot recollect the exact sequence but all I had was the elegance/bolero manual. Both now gone.

Ahhh!! I didn't have my mobile paired up.  Will try again with it paired up tomorrow.  Thanks!

I think with your phone connected, on the phone display on the mdf press the down arrow to get to the menu.

Bluetooth>user>select user>delete

vaguely recollect that you had to have a phone paired to delete any other phone

This is correct.  Confusing, unnecessary and a non-trivial shortcoming in the user interface if you ask me.

Oooh thank you one and all !

Connecting and pairing up my own phone meant I could delete the previous owner phones!!   Special thanks to Looby for the clear instructions.

I agree with you ejstubbs.  Very poor User Interface and the manual is no better!

All sorted   :sun:

Don't I get a special mention too?? :((

Thanks for this thread Blackcatgirl - got the same problem.

Perhaps this information should go into the Yeti 'How Do I?' thread.

Right I'm off to delete all my old phones. :D

Handy thread!

I will add when I'm back from holiday. I keep 1 old phone paired in case I have to delete my current phone-I ended up replacing my iPhone 4, 5 times, and the last time they gave me a 4S, (which didn't work until iOS 6 came out....)

I always seem to name the phone the same, and it won't accept the same name twice for some unknown reason.

Thanks for starting this thread Blackcatgirl, some very useful advice from the Oracle known as the Briskoda collective. Thanks everyone. Now off to delete my old phone.

Well it looks like I'm screwed then...I just got a new iPhone 6 and activated it in the shop. Yeti promptly paired up the phone, so far so good. I got home and hooked my old and new phones to my computer and did the full data migrate etc that you do when swapping phones. But that changed the name of my phone. Now it won't pair up to my Yeti. It thinks THAT name is my old (now erased) phone. And... because I can't pair up my phone...I can't delete any of the previous phones.

So I'd like to delete all phones and start from scratch.

Any thoughts? Off to the dealer methinks??

Change the name of your new phone back to what it was when you first paired it?
