Thinking of swapping out JOM's - best coilovers without spending a bomb?

Featured Replies

As title,

Which are the best coilovers for the money, dont really want to spend more than £500 and must be better than JOM's LOL

Cheers

AP's seem really popular

Thanks mate I'll look into them

Do any of the coilover have height and spring rate adjust ability or are they the expensive ones?

Only the more expensive ones have the adjustable dampening

D2's are about the cheapest adj ones

Have AP's on mine, literally can not fault them they are great. Ride quality is superb for a standard coilover with no dampening adjustment.

+1 for AP too. I've heard D2 are ridiculously stiff even on the softest dampening setting.

APs here too!

GAZ are adjustable and also go low, they are about £550, you would have to check they do them for the Fabia.  I have bought them for my Golf, they take 4 weeks for delivery as they are made to order.

I got GAZ GHA as Golds are more expensive.

Weitecs are the choice I'd go for

Ap's for me :)

AP's - no issues -

I'm thinking ap's for mine but they seem to be about £450...

I'd rather get joms for £180...

But I haven't felt just how awful they are yet so might change my mind soon enough.

AP's... Plus awesome got them on at special price :)

On the highest setting how much gap is there on the rear with AP's?

Cheers

Running AP's on mine too, very happy with them would definitely recommend..

APs are recommended on a better budget, the drop is great for anyone wanting to look low and have a fairly comfortable ride. I've used JOMs before and they are terrible but I couldn't afford any better so couldn't complain. To be honest if your on a budget you can't be picky with things like the gap on the rear, and being coilovers I wouldn't be worried about the height, it will be a large drop from standard. Should you want a little more drop you can edit the setup slightly (not entirely sure how) to make it a little lower, quick google search brings up all the info you will most likely need to know about APs

EDIT: miss read the question slightly, more confused, if you want them on the highest setting why don't you just get springs? The link above states 35-65mm, so would assume that 35mm is the highest setting. Similar to that of the eibach springs depending on vehicle

ill be buying FK AK streets in a couple of weeks, had them before and FK make a quality product, my mates VRS on AP's ride lovely though

Hi thanks for the comments.

1. I dont have stock shocks anymore

2. Coilovers will be better vs stock shocks and lowering springs - depending on brand

3. I just want a comfortable distance between the bottom of the arch and the top of the rear wheel, reason being the JOM's are on the highest setting and there is virtually no gap so I'd like to avoiding rubbing of anything over bumps etc.
