DRL with LEDs - disable diagnosis error

Featured Replies

I like the idea of leds but any advantage is lost as soon as you add a resistor. Also I was of the turn the drls off, then the thought occurred what if I have a bump the insurance company are going to ask if they were on. So they are back on

Are they a legal requirement to have them kept on? I assume the fact you can switch them off, means they arent a legal requirement, therefore the insurance company couldnt ask if they were on or off. Or certainly couldnt do anything if they werent. Unless it is a legal requirement.

I think its a legal requirement for cars to be built with them, but not sure about keeping them left on.

  • Not wishing to cause "trouble", but why is a filament DRL deemed "not quiet right" Why should it be dazzlingly white and bright?   It's only a daylight running light, if you can't see the car itself

  • I don't know how you could be bothered. It's a lot if fuss for something you can't see while driving. I bet you are a daemon on interior rattles.

I'm trying to work out how they are a waste!

OK, ive thought of a use for them. It helps identify a Jag sooner rather than later, because of the way the DRLs are shaped.

I smell yet another DRL useful/useless thread brewing  :peek:

Nah. Can't be bothered.

There is enough evidence out there to show their effectiveness but there are plenty who choose to ignore it.

Sorry, havent seen one. Last think i was trying to do was start a DRL war!

Or it could be that people have yet to see this evidence. Doesnt mean people are ignoring anything.

You say you cant be bothered, but then post something that is likely to make someone bite. Well congratulations, silly me did just bite.

I found this in VCDS (look the pictures). In vcds is now set on 00 Lighting: Standart/Parameter Settings (EEPROM) (PICTURE 2). When I check other settings I discovored setting for YETI (picture 1). Which setting I need to choose?

As your original byte 18 is 00, do NOT use VCDS to change it.

It generally means that none of the byte 18 values are correct for your car so if you change it, you may never get the stock lighting configuration back.

If you want to make lighting configuration changes, find someone with VCP or ODIS-e. Both can be used to backup the original lighting configuration and make any changes you need including LED DRL (assuming the BCM supports LED lighting).
