Need to remove the evaporator Fabia 1 Estate

Featured Replies

The local aircon man and I have eliminated all the leaks my car has been plagued with - there is still a slight leak so we now need to check the evaporator.  Any advice / tips out there in Skodaland? Can it be accessed without taking the whole dash unit off?

The car is a 1.9TDi Elegance Estate on a 54 plate

Thanks Pastyboy - I don't think the sensor is a problem - the pressure drops slowly so its a leak I'm after.  All the pipe work, apart from the evaporator, has been replaced and tested to death - so that's where we have to go next.

Use a UV dye and then take the pollen filter out and look inside.

Thanks Tech1e - it has been thoroughly uv tested which is how we know all the visible pipework at the front of the engine bay (with the bottom plastic cover off) is sound. I'm hoping it is possible to get a look at the evaporator without hauling the dash out - is it possible?

Yes, take the pollen filter out. If the evaporator is leaking there will be dye on the filter and coming out of the a/c drain.
