Window regulator - removing door panel help

Featured Replies

Hi

I am trying to replace my window regulator on passenger front door.

After faffing around trying to dril lthe rivets out I am now stuck on one last thing - disconnectng a wire connector. My understanding is that this connector needs disconnecting from near the door lock but it is just not budging. Some pics below. I have broken off a part of the clip whilst trying to use a screw driver. The one I am talking about is the blue thing with the black case.

The wire itself goes all the way through the door from the door lock side on the elft through to the door pillar on the right. I cannot disconnect it from the other side so it must be that connector that needs taking off..

Having looked at this it looks like the guy has unclipped his - but it looks different.

Only other thing I can think off is havign to take the door handle/lock thing off but I don't really fancy that.

I have uplaoded photos here:

This is the otherside - the wire goes into the door pillar so I cannot take it off.

should come off m8, try squeezing the very back of the clip and pushing it further on whiile giving it a wiggle, then pull, it may not be releasing because its hard against the clip.

worth a try!

Hi,

The door lock comes out with the regulator complete then take off all the wires + other bits and refit.

I got the connector off in the end - basically I stuck a screwdriver in between the black outcase and the blue bit - it did cause the black bit to split - but tbh I have been tyring to get it off for ages and it was seirously annoying. We'l see if it goes back on!

Mine was a pain to get off too !

If I ever need to do it again I'd drill a hole through the metal panel opposite the clip and get a screwdriver through it and ease it off that way.

Hi all, the cable in my drivers door regulator snapped this morning (2001 Fabia). Just wondering do I need to replace the whole regulator or is it possible to just insert a new cable?

cable repair kits available on ebay

Go for a whole new regulator for piece of mind as its a pain in the arse of a job to do !
