HOW DO YOU REWIND A WINDOW REG SPOOL

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

How do you rewind a window reg drive cog/spool. (mk 1 tdi  nsf)  i.e.  how many turns and what position do you set the plastic clamps on rails when rewinding (Is it clamps half way and 2 1/2 turns but not sure).

Thanks

I did mine by trial and error and lots of swearing. I know that's probably not overly helpful, but that's what happened. It's a fiddly job and I don't want to ever have to do another one.

for the time and effort required, I personally would just spend the £80 to obtain a new regulator (with the two arms riveted to the plate along with the wire pre-routed) at the dealers.

makes it alot simpler and alot quicker/less stressful!

Yup. Thats what i did. Just bought a new regulator. Comes bolted on to the carrier. you just need to switch your speakers over. Or buy a second one with speaker bolted on already. I paid £40 for mine. I think you can get them for about £60 on ebay

Thanks so far.   I am trying to do a repair for nowt.  I skanked a cable + spool and one clip from my local scrappy foc, the clip and window clamp had to be modified as from a 2002 ibiza.  I got a knackered gear cable from my local bicycle shops bin,  I am now ready to reassemble.
