Power socket splitter

Featured Replies

Where do you guys have yours fitted??

I've had mine for about a month now, tried sticking it on the passenger side with double sided tape but it fell off due to the hot weather

Also jammed it between the panel and the passenger seat but it rattled and kept falling down, also didn't want wires running across the handbrake and gears

I decided to do something about it today and managed to fit in perfectly inside the gap under the stereo, it's not stuck in there permanently, but I had a small notepad in the car and placed that on top, now it's wedged in there and won't rattle or move while driving

I am thinking of taking a feed from the existing 12v supply and mounting another socket in the boot

Could you not run it to the glove box or even that cubby hole on the drivers side.

Dont open the cubby hole! Its where the gremlins live!

In all seriousness, the glovebox idea sounds good, i fear wires trailing around the cubby hole may get annoying for the driver

The only issue is that i would have to keep the glovebox open so there's a chance of forgetting to close it and it being open will getting in the way of passengers legs, etc.

I'll try that little gap under the steering wheel but i think it will rattle and move about, it won't be a nice tight fit like this is, and the other small storage on the right of the steering wheel is for my sunglasses lol

I have the same 1 as that, in the same place but I hard wired mine to an ign fed supply from the fuse box(10A) so it goes off with the engine otherwise that 5v dropper is taking juice all the time (and I sometimes don't even open the door on mine for weeks at a time)

I used the double sided tape to stick it to the top of the cubby hole.

Harry 1212,

I have mine in the cool box on the drivers side for the sat nav. hard wired in. It is ok and works well because when the sat nav. is not there I can just roll up the cable and leave it in the cubby still plugged in. The only problems are 2 fold  it is a tight fit if you use a straight connector as I have. The other is I had to cut clearance so the cubby hole flap could open so the VagCom socket could be used.

I hope this helps.

What are the plugs for? That'd drive me loopy there.

Sat nav and dash cam. I use both almost every single time that i drive so leave them plugged in, i disconnect the actual splitter when i'm done

They actually don't get in the way when i'm driving to be honest

It's just the untidy look that'd do my Swede in tbh. If you use them both all the time surely just hardwire them in? The fuse box is nice and easy to get to on the Fabia, perfect for running the wires up the A pillar for the dash cam and along the bottom for the satnav. Much tidier!

That's my plan but i have no idea on how to wire stuff up so i'll need to get someone else to do it for me. I am getting some stuff done to my car soon so will see what they can do.

The socket plugged in on the left is for the dash cam and it is running up the pillar and is well hidden, i've also managed to squeeze the wire in on the left hand side of the glove box.

At the moment it's plugged in there and i've run it from there, straight underneath the passenger floor mat and then it's running straight up, the only bit of the dash cam wire that is visible is what you can see in that picture.

The sat nav wire doesn't bother me, when it's not in use, it's still plugged in but i just leave it hanging towards the passenger side lol
