Right guys i fitted second hand turbo to my vrs before fitting checked for play and there wasnt any but fitted and did a 240mile trip to canterbury for work when i got there the car is making a rather loud noise sounds like propellors are catching but it does it all the time not just in boost im hoping its the manifold bolts or exhaust bolts expanded and it the gasket slapping about or a pipe somewere and not the turbo any ideas what it could be guys really starting to lose faith in my car as ive had nothing but problems with it and really thinking of getting rid but dont want to as really wanted it but having too many problems

Did you prefil turbo with oil and build oil pressure before starting car after it was fitted?

Why did the last fail as 99% turbo fails due to something else being wrong normally oil pickup pipe blocked

Old one failed due to oil pickup nd it has been done and yh turned car over few times before starting properly to get oil circulated its a squeek like aux belt but its not the belt as it like grinding/tapping sound really hard to describe

Sounds like the noise mine made as it let go.  When on boost I am guessing and when off doesnt happen?!?!

Yh it does it all the time boosts great i got 130 4 man up and boot full of camping gear otherday not a problem but its just a horrid noise cant diagnose it but gonna spend full day tmoro in garage on it see what the crack is nd check propellors

Right after inspection my tip pipe wasnt put on properly and now the bracket to bolt it down has broke could that being loose make the noise i can hear?

Or could it be my flexi as its looking black so could be blowing

Help please it wasnt my flexi as i had that done and a back box delete with new tip(sounds awesome).

But the horrid noise is still there it is like the belt squeal with grinding in it anyone else had this problem or know what it could be please really need it sorting or im goin to give up on it and go to another car

Could it be the front wheel bearings

You're not going to get a proper diagnosis on line buddy, just educated guesses. Wheel bearing won't make any noise if the car is stopped. You can check them by jacking up the front and checking for play in the wheels and spinning the wheels and listening for any unhealthy noise.

Why were you doin 130 4 up with kit?

Could just be a doddgy turbo or tge pickup pipe is blocked again due to too much sealant being used?

Having this problem and still doimg that speed sounds like your ragging it and not very mechanically sympathetic to the car? No offence intended.

Not wheel bearings and dont often hit those speeds it does it while plodding along and oil pick up is fine it hard to describe the noise

I was doing that all last week. Legally and safely. In Germany.

Wind your neck in until you know the full story. If he did it on the m1 then he's a moron.

Doesnt really matter where he was doing it to me. Matters that he knows there is a problem and was doing it.

Specially with 3 others in the car.

A ton thirty on the m1 is nothing, at night when road is empty and lit up. I personally dont mind someone doing it so long as they slow down when others are around or visibility isnt as good. All about time and place.

Back to trouble tho. Have you disturbed something while fitting?

No smoke or oil use and jigger72 were u live ill do it on ur road anytime i did it on empty strech of road in hot sunny day so visibility was great and it was safe could av done more but didnt hit that then slowed down again

I did think that but wen that went on my leon i had no heating nd coolant temp was all over the place but seems fine as got great heating nd temp stays at 90

Besides, you'd struggle to get 30 down my road, never mind 130. It's about 600m long, one way, cars parked either side and 3 speed bumps – oh yeah, and loads of kids, mums with pushchairs, elderly folk, etc., so by all means come down and act like a ***** if you want.

unfortunately its not about abiding by the law all the time its about you bragging on a public forum and trying to defend it,  speeding is not too bad but lets face it even 130 is a bit excessive don't you think? in this country at least, no matter where, and trying to be a big man saying you'll give it a go in a residential street is just making yourself look like an even bigger **** than you already have.

Like i said if u dont lile it dont comment at the end of the day speeding is speeding wether ot by 1mph or 60mph so unless you all stick to the limit at all times dont try having ago at me i put my foot down once and saw a good speed and im sure alot of you have done it at some point. I was not bragging i was simply stating that the turbo is working perfectly fine and i dont believe thats the problem of the noise
