Bolero BT Coding rejected

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, I need a little help.

I have been trying to code a retrofit BT into a 2012 Octy VRS for a fellow Briskodian. I have latest version VCDS with a genuine cable.

The Bolero is this one:

20130806_185909_zps020a5108.jpg

and the Bluetooth is this:

20130806_185851_zps7cdfc3b3.jpg

This was supposed to be coded in by the dealer the car was purchased from but they didn't seem sure of themselves and it seems haven't managed to sort it properly. The cars coding is as follows:

Most of the above faults cleared down OK so were assumed to be installation related. I added the telephone kit to the Gateway installation list without a problem, however the Bolera whilst it seems to acknowledge the existence of the kit by showing the option for emergency call under the telephone menu it does not provide anything further.

Under the Radio coding I found a tick box for the presence of a telephone kit but I get the following error when I try to code this

VCDSReject_zpsc3c73927.png

Am I correct in thinking the Bolero needs to be told of the presence of the telephone prep?

Could anyone provide an insight into where I am going wrong here?

When I fitted mine I didn't actually need to code it before it worked.  Admittedly that was to a Columbus in a pre FL, with a slightly different module, but I wouldn't have thought it was too different.  In my case, the coding to 77 just refined the usability such as how the names were displayed etc and presumably adding it to the gateway would have allowed it to show in maxidot had that been possible (which in my case it wasn't due it being a pre FL).  When I did code it I do recall adding something to 56 as you are trying to do but as I say it worked even before I did that.

My guess the issue is with the pre-coding in 77, not 56 (maybe in relation to the car manufacturer or country setting?).  And do any any of those errors on 77 remain after clearing them?

Happy to look through my coding if no one else with a better clue or a more similar set up comes forward.

Thanks for the reply Adam.

There didn't look to be much to code in 77, I tried the language set to both English and Automatic which didn't seem to have any effect. All fault codes for 77 cleared down ok but having searched on here it seems the coding for this module is longer than a lot of others?

As said the odd thing was the tick box for telephone in 56 which the unit refused to accept, and I am struggling to find an answer on line for the coding rejected error I am seeing.

I looked at my coding and there was something in 77 about telephone prep at byte 7 which was country related. That was the only thing I could see which might cause issue??

And the only thing in 56 was to do with voice control.

So I suspect our modules are too different for a useful comparison. And yes your phone coding is longer than mine, although I guess that is because it is the premium version with more functionality.

As you have a genuine VCDS cable, do you also have Ross Tech support?

If so, drop them an email with all the info or PM Theresa (I think that's correct spelling) on this forum.

why are you coding the radio for BT

code the Telephone module and gateway

If the radio can't see the BT kit then there is an issue with the wiring

Eddie-NL I am the briskodian member that Anddenton is trying to assist with the codeing of the bluetooth. The wiring loom I purchased was part of a retrofit package that I bought from car-systems.pl.

Unless I`m a complete idiot and I ordered the wrong thing I think the wiring is pretty simple. I plugged the new quadlock onto the main wiring loom behind the bolero and the other end into the back of the bolero. The mic was connected and also the last attachment to the bluetooth module.

I admit I have no ideas regarding the codeing thing.

When the bluetooth module is connected the "BT-Audio" shows on the bolero but cannot be selected. When I press the phone button the display shows no user connected. I search via my mobile phone and the vehicle bluetooth is not visable.

Any other ideas what this could be ????

Thanks for your help and comments guys.

As you have a genuine VCDS cable, do you also have Ross Tech support?

If so, drop them an email with all the info or PM Theresa (I think that's correct spelling) on this forum.

I got the cable second hand from an acquaintance who was selling his VW so I don't believe I get the support but I will look into it as I might be able to pay for support?

why are you coding the radio for BT

code the Telephone module and gateway

If the radio can't see the BT kit then there is an issue with the wiring

I coded the gateway for the BT being present but didn't seem to make any difference, is there some coding in the gateway that I am missing?

Telephone module coding doesn't seem to be anything that would stop it from working, just the basics such as language setting etc. Is there a particular setting I should be looking for?

The radio seems to be able to see the presence of the BT as it gives the option for emergency call, however when you go into this I think it just said there was no phone present.

The coding for the radio seemed to have an option for telephone kit installed so I assumed I needed to set this, however that was the coding that wouldn't take.

I coded a unit for a member and had to manually copy the long coding before it took.

Once that was done the options in 77 could be set and adjusted.

Interesting, what long coding did you use?

Ross Tech support is $99 I think: that's lifetime.

Have a look in the 'Radio' and see if there's anything there. I really can't remember if there is, but there might be.

Otherwise its only the gateway (19) that needs coding to activate and the BT module to code the features you want / need.

  • 1 year later...

Can I ask please, did this issue get resolved, as I am trying to achieve the same, and am running into the same issue of the Bolero 'seeing' the bluetooth, but not offering any pairing or indeed any options!

(I am using a 3C8 035 730 E bluetooth unit)

I am struggling now, any help appreciated!!

The issue I had in the original post with the Bluetooth not offering a method of pairing was I now understand down to having premium Bluetooth but not having maxidot, the premium bluetooth requires the presence of maxidot to allow pairing.

When phill did mine for me I think he had to wipe all the settings on the Bluetooth box and start a fresh worked first time after that.

Your right when you say that the Bluetooth audio apears on the media bit but you can't click it that's what happened to mine

As Anddenton says airspikes issue is not having maxidot and hence no means to pair to a premium bt module. The options are change to a different module that pairs via the headunit or install maxidot. Neither is cheap but the former is easier...

Hi All, Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will try Simbo's suggestion, as I have just changed phone, and it will see me a couple more years.

Regarding changing to a 'different module' any suggestions as to which one will resolve this problem and work?

Thanks again,

You can use the newer ones that are HFP only as they pair from the phone and use the head unit to display the phone book. You just need a Bolero or Columbus.

They start 5k0 with suffix d or above or 7p6 j or above.

Admittedly more expensive than the older units but they support streaming and I think all the older ones also require maxidot...

Thanks Adamal, I will try first to find someone with a microdot setup to see if I can program this one, otherwise search for a new one begins!

Thanks to all for your assistance.
