Ordered white citigo sport

Featured Replies

Hi, newbie here. I've ordered a citigo sport in white and should be getting it delivered by the end of sept.

Can't wait! I'm a bit worried that it might not be quick enough for me given that I've not had a slowish car for a while but it seemed nippy on the test drive and I don't drive quick any more! I'll enjoy the cheap tax, £150 insurance per year and hopefully 55mpg whilst having fun in the process.

I ordered a red Sport 2 weeks ago and have been told delivery by late September.

can get ours into the 60's mpg without trying too hard ;)

Mine's on order too.... should be mid-September.

Good thing about the Citigo, it cornered on test really flat compared to some of the old tat I used to drive, Micras, Saxo, Volvo 340/440s etc....

Stepping down from my current car, I'm sure I'll be save on the £/gal and making more on the smiles/mile front!

Welcome mate

Good choice youve made.

I was concerned after coming from my 185bhp Toledo tdi to a 60bhp Citigo, but my concerns were short lived.

The power is ample at town speeds, its only the overtaking power I miss, but I've adapted my driving style to suit and its fine.

£180 insurance, low tax and 60mpg is just what you need in this current economic climate.

Decent interior space and larger than average boot for the car size, and it's all good :)

Plus the sport model looks great from all angles

Puts me in mind of my old Lupo GTi...just wish it had the same power but nevermind

Enjoy the car, and the site

Cheers

Damo

I fancied cruise control but I didn't fancy the extra wait. Hopefully it will be easy to retrofit!

Cheers, I hope so.

The low running costs were the main reason for changing. That and I felt a massive bill was just round the corner on my Beemer.

My girlfriend has a 1.2 polo -I reckon that is slower than a citigo - and I don't mind driving that, I'm just careful when I overtake, haha. I can also get high 50s mpg out of that too so ill hope for more from the citigo.

Another question is the lease on her polo is up soon and do I persuade her to get a citigo or get her to go for a fabia instead? Not sure i like the idea of his n hers cars, lol

Get her a Fabia Monte Carlo in white, another sporty looking little Skoda but different from the 'go.

A fabia might be a good idea as it might be handier having a bigger car too. I'm hopeful the local dealer will do us a good deal but they couldn't for my (to be) citigo.

Already thinking about what mods I can do lol. I fancy a set of TT pedals and retrofitting cruise control.

Then maybe new bulbs......

Everything you need to know about retrofitting cruise to the Citigo: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/282738-retrofit-cruise-control-and-mfa/

If it's anything like mine and Damo's Sports, then cruise is a non-starter, but it's worth checking as per the guide.

I've also done a guide about fitting the sports pedals, but you may have seen that already.

Apparently the car was in the docks earlier in the week,so should be ready to collect in a couple of weeks :D

Its a shame the cruise control isn't looking possible to do but I'll have to get used to not having it anymore.

Great choice of car Markyg - sure you will love it. Everyone says it's lots of fun to drive and that's a lot about the feel of the controls and the handling/cornering or feel on the road. It's not all about speed. I do think you sometimes need to adapt like changing gear more but that's fun and the savings are great. I agree it's a shame about cruise control but I am sure you will get used to one less thing to bother about. Bet you can't wait! I was trying to change my Fabia for a Citigo; I love the Fabia but remember there is a new one out late next year (and a special edition with the same engine as your girlfriend's Polo but black alloys on offer now).

PS great comments damo.

Drove this road just outside Ashby de la Zouch. Put such a tingle down the old spine, working the gearbox nicely, the little sport corners like it's on rails:

I am looking forward to getting it now. I was a bit nervous about losing 100 horses and about 200lbft torque but diesels are no fun to drive on twisty roads and everything I have read says the citigo will be fun in those situations.

I'm not bothered about outright speed anymore as you can't use it and petrol is too expensive!

One question, does the sport have the MFA trip computer?

Yes :)

On the PID, you can have it set to show all info at once as well (trip, distance, time, current mpg, avg mpg etc)

The Citigo is all about fun at legal speeds IMO

Just proves you dont need mega bhp to enjoy driving

I am wavering on a Sport in white with spare steel wheel and variable boot floor (if they will do it as not in the brouchure!).  What do people think of cruise (inc trip computer) and parking sensors.  Is it worth having?  I say this because our Octavia has this and I use cruise alot however I am less likley to do long journeys in the Citigo as it will be our 2nd run-around car?  Does the "trip computer" show data a bit like the old MFA and is this shown on the PID anyway?  Does the PID show outside temperature which I find useful in winter?  Too many questions, sorry.

Cruise I would have, but mine is the old ecu so I cant. Yours will be the new ecu so could be retro fitted afterwards if required. I think you'll be surprised how capable it is on mway and distance journeys. Very comfy and handles long trips no probs.

Parking sensors I don't think are necessary unless your not great at judging distances or park in tight spaces as visibility is excellent IMO

You get info inc temp etc on dash display and you can toggle through them as on previous vag cars, but it shows on PID as well as all trip miles, ave speed, mpg etc

Also you can have a display on PID of rev counter engine temps etc

The PID is a really good bit of kit and integrates with the stereo fantastic

Really good

If you weren't so far away I'd pop round to show you

1. PID shows outside temp. As does the instrument LCD display (as one of it's options).

2. Would have ordered cruise but took my car ready built in the system. Not missing it as much as I thought, and my right foot doesn't get achey. I'm the sort who used cruise all the time, even on quick runs.

3. I set dash display to show option 2 total trip mpg, which is the only thing you can't show on the PID along with the other 6 displays it shows at once. (although you can show it, you just have to sacrifice one of the others).

Initial acceleration is disastrous, and can be disappointing, but hanging on to the speed you've built up is what this car is all about, snapping through the gorgeous gearbox and just grinning at the fun of it all and that crazy buzzing engine providing the perfect soundtrack. I even turn the stereo down if I've got some down-changes coming up.
