What puts you off?

A couple of my 'favourites' are 'rust-free' and 'mint condition' when the reality is at odds with these observations  :|

  • Bloody bad spelin n grama in a advrtismnt, annoys me when you read it and it looked like it took 2 minutes to write up. Red, 53k miles, phat rims, big boy exhaust, does 200mph, mint condition. Did I m

  • One thing that also annoys me with car adverts is searching for say Fabia vRS, and you get...     VW Golf GTI - NOT Fabia, Polo, Octavia, Leon, Ibiza, Passat, VRS, Cupra, FR, TDI

  • The words Ford and Vauxhall are generally enough to put me off.

Oi you!  I've a Vauxhall engine in me Westfield.

When I put a limit of say £7000 in and a car comes up as £6995 and looks brilliant just to say at the bottom £6995 includes minimum £500 part exchange, real price £7495. I just look at others and don't bother contacting them.

Lack of dealer stamps and diy servicing put me off cars

Cars for sale that haven't been cleaned - if they can't be bothered to make it look presentable, what else can't they be bothered doing

Oil usage :)

This one too- 'new shape' on a 13 year old fiesta

"Drift spec" which is code for everything is shagged on it

Celica gt4> 300ish flame spitting BHP (on high boooooooost)

I would definitely avoid this  :giggle:

Time waster need not apply irritates me a little bit, appreciate why people put it but by the very nature of the time waster they will not listen to this anyway, ex - timewaster looks on auto trader & suddenly thinks aw naw "time wasters need not apply" that's me scuppered!!!:)

i like it when people say what they want for their stuff as it saves them having to inflate the price just to haggle it back down again, it is much simpler. It seems that if you buy a 1 off item then you instantly have to haggle, it's like tradition or something but im glad it doesnt apply to everything as my half hour ALDI shop would suddenly become a whole lot longer with a few more open tills required.

Nothing wrong with advertising 'No Offers' or Fixed Price if you know what you want for your car or house or anything else and you can not be bothered with 'Time Wasters',

and 'No Time Wasters/tyre kickers' should not offend anyone other than 'Road Testers' and 'Tyre Kickers'.

My personal favourite is "no test pilots"

"reluctant sale".

I just think well you can keep it then and move on.

Infact the most annoying one i seen when i was looking for a gt4 was "if your under 21 dont even bother as you wont get insurance".....emmm im pretty sure i did

I see nothing wrong with no offers.  I wanted £2500 for my Getz, so I am not interested in being offered £2000 or what ever.

A mate at work just showed me an astra vxr that was advertised as "one careful owner". attached was a video of him reversing down a country road, slamming it into first and doing a wheelspin then ragging It through the gears....not a very careful owner

People who can't get their facts right about their cars. eg stating the wrong engine size/power etc or they advertise the car as the same model but the wrong trim level.

To me it just shows how little they know about cars and if they don't know what trim level they have then they obviously don't care about cars so they probably won't have looked after it that well.

I saw a 4x4 vRS advertised for sale yesterday! :)

^^^ Half of the Skoda community wish

But still it doesn't inspire confidence does it LOL

Yep, true enough!

I nearly contacted the garage to let them know, but then I thought 'what was the point' (!!)

I'm put off by loads.

  • If the car looks like its in a rough area
  • Sticker bombing
  • Stupidly sized exhausts
  • Poor spelling and grammar in adverts, or the advert gets ignored if they cannot use paragraphs.
  • Short adverts, lacking in any description/detail
  • Pictures that blatently miss an area of the car, therefore IMO they must be hiding the fact its damaged or something wrong with it.
  • Seeing very dirty interiors on the pictures.

I could go on but this can get very boring lol.

Short test, will easy pass another........

Then why haven't you spent £50 to test it then?

Have I missed it, or has nobody yet mentioned 'First to see will buy'

I'm always hit with the nagging doubt that if I go along, with the intention of disproving their theory, that it might actually be worth buying!

"Declared SORN" usually makes me think twice as well

Just wondering how long it has been out action and why
