  • Bloody bad spelin n grama in a advrtismnt, annoys me when you read it and it looked like it took 2 minutes to write up. Red, 53k miles, phat rims, big boy exhaust, does 200mph, mint condition. Did I m

  • One thing that also annoys me with car adverts is searching for say Fabia vRS, and you get...     VW Golf GTI - NOT Fabia, Polo, Octavia, Leon, Ibiza, Passat, VRS, Cupra, FR, TDI

  • The words Ford and Vauxhall are generally enough to put me off.

Cat d and so on!

CAT-D or C buried in the ad, or as the last sentence. Doesn't annoy me as such, just be up front about it on the ad - how about in the title on AutoTrader/PH/eBay etc so you can actually filter through, if you're not looking for something that's been repaired.

'On V-Car' is another corker - I'm not even sure where that phrase comes from? It's another way of saying it's been accident repaired, but why not just stick to the proper category system. Just says to me they're trying to be deceiving

Ads that start with "For Sale" when they are in the for sale section. I KNOW THAT, that is why I am looking here!

If the seller does not have the brains to realise where their ad is posted, then I can't be bothered to view their car.

Mileage shown as 50 or 100, for example, when it actually means 50,000 or 100,000 and so on. Bloody irritating when searching for a genuine low mileage example.

If you mean on here, that's used so it's obvious when browsing the main forum search of new topics and posts. It's searching every section, so it's actually helpful seeing it's a For Sale ad in the title :)

No I don't mean on this forum, it's places like Autotrader where you click on "Buy a Car" and they start with "for sale" which is obvious as you are looking in the section where cars are only for sale.

What annoys?    All the above that you have picked up on, probably one or two more as well, oh yes how about

"Here we Have..........."

Ah right - yes, understood :)

If it's on AutoTrader you'd hope it was for sale ;)

MASSIVE SPEC is thrown around like there's no tomorrow as well; often on cars without any extras which aren't that well specced in the first place.

All used cars are subject to £99 purchase fee.

To be fair im after a Lupo at the mo and the two I've seen with this statement were sold before my phone call arrived!

Maybe it's a subliminal message then and you don't have the choice after you've read it....caveat emptor, oooo-errrrr  :peek:

Add to this anyone selling a VAG motor on EBay. Its ten years old ergo its worth twelvefty billionz of pownds

Here's something that I've just decided (via an ongoing bad dealer experience) would put me off if I were buying from an independent dealer again:

The car comes with a warranty through an external warranty provider (e.g. World of Warranty), rather than the dealer giving it their own warranty.

This isn't for your convenience, it's for their convenience, so that if at all possible they never have to deal with you again.

To me it suggests that they only care about a fast sale and have no interest in fostering a good customer relationship and after-sales service.

Additionally, as they are less likely to deal with the fallout, it might mean that they ara bit less scrupulous about the condition of cars that they sell.

(some dealers who have this system are probably fine, and just lack their own garage or don't have a suitable local one to form an agreement with..  however it will certainly put ME off from here on)

Plenty of decent dealers/traders give a warranty to protect themselves a bit against some costs of breakdowns. Yes plenty chuck it in and tell you to get stuffed if there is a issue but I woudnt say just because it's offered means they are dodgy. (IMO) I bought one car with no warranty and they tried to leave me high and dry when it packed up 3 days later and another gave warranty but sorted an issue themselves without argument.
