Anybody would think you were a journalist Q -- top review 10/10 Gold star etc etc

Thanks :D

Q, you're in the wrong job. Seems like a good value package. Did I miss something or did you get the mStation hooked up as well?

  • Author

No, the mStation still sits in the garage. My excuse this time is that the AUX-in lead wasn't quite what it was supposed to be and that I'm waiting for a refund before I order a different version...

I guess that's the only downside of the unit is that with only one slot its either sat nav or radio, unless you take the disk out. I suppose one of the Blaupunkt CD changers would rectify this, n'est pas?

I'd still like a double din unit but they are thin on the ground.

Happy navigating!!

Yes, you can take the navigation CD out once the route has been calculated and use it to play an audio CD. You will lose the benefits of the traffic functions, and if you wander of the route too much it will give you just an arrow to point you into the destination location. But if you then insert the navigation CD it will pick up where you are and adjust accordingly.

And indeed, you can also hook up Blaupunkts CD changer, but these are not the cheapest round the block.

And batteries included!

Top-notch review, Q. That sturdy Blaupunkt design looks very Skoda, BTW. I hope it will match the mStation... Or will you be putting that in the boot?

  • Author

The mStation is destined for the boot as its looks are more of a match for Lada/Kia/Peruoga than the sophisticated Skoda design ;)

excellent review Q!

I've posted a small update to the review as I've now had the final word from Blaupunkt on the AUX-IN adapter... anyone interested in a few ICE parts?

You never know, Q - I'll see what I'm missing when I try and get my new system up and running... *finger's crossed*

You must be really annoyed... :( And you don't even have the option of plugging the MStation in using one of those tape adapter things!

Post up the bits you're selling (probably best in For Sale), might be interested... :)

Rob.

I'll have to rethink my strategy a bit (which includes notifying the board of directors at home :(), but most likely the mStation and all the stuff I had bought for the boot install will be obsolete and hence be put up for sale. Pants.

That's bad, bad, bad news. :(

So who's the honest salesman responsible for this? Or is it simply Blaupunkt telling the "technical truth" in their manuals ("Yes, it can take two AUX-IN adapters"), instead of stating the facts: "Yes, it will take two AUX-IN adapters but the HU won't be able to control the actual AUX-IN machinery, which makes this capability a total nonsense."

In an ironic twist, its the same with the symphony unit, there is an Aux in lead, but no way of forcing the head unit to switch to it.

Blaupunkt - argh!

Remind me, Ian, what HU is your mStation running on?

Its obviously a fault within Blaupunkt. They state everywhere that it is able to use it, which dealers just mirror.

Mattijs, the original symphony, through a tape adaptor, with the cable rolled immediately over the top and into the dash, so I have MP3, CDchanger and radio.

A tape adaptor and MP3 - where the 20th and 21st century meet... :D

I am really surprised how nice the sound quality is, its certainly a huge leap over the FM modulator which was the other temporary solution.

At some point I will grab an Alpine HU, but this will do for now.

Oh well, can't disagree with you there. On looks it must be so-so, but you've saved a lot money-wise.

Problem is, your parts don't fit in my puzzle...
