Window switch pack repair

Featured Replies

Noticed a few days ago that the child lock on the rear windows didn't work and the 1 touch up on both front windows also not working. Been a tight-arse Yorkshire man I didn't want to shell out for a new one so decided to strip the old one and see if I could fix it.

To remove the switch pack and it's trim from the door panel is straight forward using a small flat blade prise out the inner handle trim. Then gently and carefully prise the full trim upwards from the rear and work along till it's all loose, don't try and pull it off in one go as it will break.

Once this is off unplug the brown multi-plug for the wiring, turn the switch pack over and remove the 3 Phillips screws this separates the switches and the trim.

Next find yourself a clean flat work space to strip it down on there's some small parts inside you don't want to lose.

There's 7 T6 screws on the back to remove and 4 tabs to unlock then the back will come off, don't turn the switches over or the circuit board and all the switch internals will fall out.null_zps0eb29ec7.jpg

Lift out the circuit board and remove the rubber cover on it. null_zpsa5275da3.jpgnull_zpsf0d7f7f0.jpg

I used this contact cleaner null_zps60922341.jpg

and some cotton buds to clean the gold contacts on the board, be careful don't press hard, when you've done them clean the rubber contacts ( the small brown and black dots on the rubber) let it all dry and reassemble. Now everything is good and functioning correctly.

Hope this helps someone and saves a few quid.
