I would change to a Rapid if ........

Btw - I respect your views and I agree there should be a better engine, just a firm believer in don't knock it til you've tried it with the 105 tsi.

I was tempted with the 1.4 tsi dsg but misses didn't get on with vrs dsg hence buying a manual.

I don't need a family car but thanks for the info anyway. I'd really rather wait around for the "real deal" but its true you can certainly go that way, but I don't want to / or feel I have to jump through hoops to get the car that skoda SHOULD be making.

Sorry, I didn't realise you didn't need a family car as you were talking about the Rapid.

It's main selling point is space at a sensible price.

If it was just for me and maybe a partner I'd be looking at the Fiesta ST now, it's supposed to be a cracker and with the low price mounture kit added... :)

If I'm honest it looks way better than any VRS for the price.  More fun, better handling, more pace.

From your later comment I'd suggest looking at something fun with a huge petrol engine.

Used they are always going to make more low milage sense than a new car because they depreciate like hell and you are missing the "new car" cost.

So not really a fair comparison.

Do they still have the turning circle of a ferry? My Mk4 ('normal' hatch, not hot) was dreadful for it as was the Mk6 ST my cousin used to have. (My work colleagues initially thought it was because I just couldn't drive until they jumped in and tried it themselves).

The STs are great cars otherwise though :)

Just buy a 1.2 and stick in whatever engine you like. ;)

...............or a CitiGo

I think that we should all just agree that the Rapid is a bit of an odd car.  It seems almost torn in half.  It is quite big, quite good looking, but very under specced in comparison with what it looks like it should be.  It is lower in price than it looks, but perhaps not by enough.  When it was released I remember thinking that given the very weak engine and lack of spec the entry level version was 2 to 3K too expensive.  But hey no one forces you to buy one (any more than I was forced to but a Citigo for 11K when many rivals are 7 or 8K), and i would still rather drive a Rapid because it is a Skoda than anything with the Seat badge.

If they sell a Scout version of the Spaceback with raised ride height/better ground clearance and a more absorbent ride that also costs less than an entry level Yeti. No chance

Well well well, what's this then!!
