Tick... tock.... waiting

Featured Replies

I'm not too good at waiting. New toys should always arrive yesterday. Right?.

So here I am, with a count down timer on my laptop screen titled "Yeti Day" that currently reads 1 month 23 days.

The day that my old trusty Roomster ("56" registration) gets exchanged for a spanking brand new Laurin & Klement 2.0 170PS.

I think I am going to enjoy this.

Tick... tock....

This is positively painful.

That's one of the problems with youngsters nowadays; no patience - they want everything yesterday!

Yup :hi:

Growing older may be mandatory (I'm 68) but growing up isn't.

I can't believe that I have had my Roomster for seven years.... I never kept a car any where near that long! But I just couldn't find a good enough reason to part with it. It has been excellent and with not a single problem. That's the only reason that I haven't had a Yeti yet. But lust finally kicked in with the L&K

Rod

Over thirty years ago whilst waiting almost 4 months for my Fiesta 1300 Ghia to arrive on day one of the 'W' plate I had a chart on my wall crossing off the days!

Technology advances change the process but like Rod I don't do patience well

I know the feeling. I had to wait only a week for my brand new Yeti in 2011. Sat to friday. it was already in the showroom & I was counting down the hours! Had to have a manual though, 6 month wait for an automatic. Got my automatic at the end of April this year.

Was in the showroom yesterday (Simpson's Colne) booking a service for it. Had l ook round, as you do, & the star of the showroom is a brand new  L & K  Automatic Superb, very nice, Just a shade under £25,000 (If anyone wants to treat me for xmas!)

Good luck with your countdown.

.... lust finally kicked in ...

And why not, indeed, young man  ?

Hi,

Just ordered my new Yeti 2.0 Elegance CR TDI DSG in Pacific Blue with Ghobi interior and wood trim from Sherlodge Gillingham. Thanks to this forum I had all the part numbers I needed for them to check on whether they could order the wood trim(as a dealer fitted option). I now have 10-12 weeks to wait until it arrives and to keep my current Octavia out of any trouble.

I have asked if they can investigate turning off the cornering fog lights as I don't really fancy lights that close to the headlights turning on at night when I turn corners and, as I reverse down my drive, I don't want to light up the bedroom of my neighbour across the road with my foglights. If they can't do it, then I'll have to find someone with VCDS in Kent who can, I have read about people having this feature turned on via VCDS but not turned off. Surely it can be done?

I think you're overestimating the way the fog lights work - you'd have to be nearly in your neighbour's bedroom window with the car for that to be an issue.

I presume that you haven't had a car with cornering lights.

Having lived with them on my Roomster for seven years, I can tell you that they are a great asset! As soon as the car starts to turn on a bend the lights really do shine around the bend. That gives you so much more visibility when driving. "S" bends are fun. The lights move to shine where you want to look. (And it also amuses the passengers).

As for lighting up your neighbour's bedroom across the road... you won't.

Rod

Rod,

I think you're talking about cornering headlights. If so I have nothing against these but I don't want both front foglights coming on when I engage reverse gear which seems to be a feature of the Yeti's cornering foglights. Do you have them on your L&K?

Neil.

P.S. Sorry, I forgot, you're still waiting (like me) for your Yeti.

Indeed, quite right Johann. In two years of Yeti ownership I have never had an issue and I have never heard of anyone else suggesting they need to turn the feature off.

The last two weeks won't be so bad.....

I shall be away in deepest Africa (Kenya).... so that might take my mind off the worst part, and I can pick up the Yeti on the day that I return. :sun:

What power engine octykent?

On my second Yeti with Xenons and cornering fogs and I'm a fan and suspect you will have no problems with the neighbours or in any other way. If you find they don't suit you then Gizmo68 is your man in Kent who will sort any VCDS issues for you. He has done his magic on both mine.

L+K 170, Elegance DSG, etc. And I thought that I was the big "I am" when I ordered my SE Plus. Maybe when the lottery win comes through.....

Thanks JCP, if the dealer can't turn them off at PDI time i'll give them a try, but it's nice to know that I have the option to turn them off if they don't suit me.

Freedie, it's only the 140; I'd have preferred a petrol but Skoda Uk seem to be limiting the DSG gearboxes to predominantly diesels these days.

I guess I'll just have to spend my time looking through Superskoda online deciding what bits to buy, already got my eye on some shiny cabin embellishments.

I doubt you will hardly notice they are on!
